It started as a joke but.....

Is the next control deck 4 color superfriends?? I was joking around about it with someone on cockatrice about it, but is W/U/B/R control possible? It seems like this gives you access to all the best removal and hand disruption, some of the best card draw (from what i've seen playing people) in Treasure Cruise . In delve decks it's easily draw 3 for U and in this control deck after you kill a bunch of stuff, wipe the board, and fetch some lands it could get close to having that same kind of consistency the delve decks do and cast this for 3 or less mana. You also have access to sarkhan, the dragronspeaker, Elspeth, Sun's Champion , Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver , Chandra, Pyromaster , and Liliana Vess as walkers that all seem like viable options for the deck and dare I say it Chain Veil to help you take over with them? The mana fixing is obviously there, but is either going to be really slow or really painful. Is it possible that the meta slows down enough to allow a 4 color deck to play a good mixture of pain and tapped land and function??

Honestly, I think it's very possible, but Green should not be ignored. Sylvan Caryatid gives incredible fixing and ramp, and Nissa, Worldwaker , Garruk, Apex Predator , and Ajani, Mentor of Heroes are all great in this minimal-creature build (Ajani for his second +1). If you want to go 4 colors, I'd say cut black and lose Ashiok, liliana, and garruk. Cutting Red can also be an option and you would lose sarkhan and chandra.

Is it feasible? Yes. Can it win? Yes. Is it the next control? No, I think others will emerge on top of it. It's still a really fun and great thought though, especially with green.

Running 4 colors without green will be difficult. I ran 4 colors this last year, G/W/U/B, and it worked great. But green is key for cards like Sylvan Caryatid to mana fix and Courser of Kruphix and Kiora, the Crashing Wave to provide mana acceleration/ advantage.

I think the next control is 100% Sultai. With access to good kill spells in Hero's Downfall and Murderous Cut , as well as a decent sweeper with Extinguish All Hope , and permission from blue, the control aspects are locked up. In terms of card selection, Sultai Ascendancy will give consistency that other decks will drool over, and Villainous Wealth is actually insane, and will work well as a finisher. I have a list brewed up that has been playtesting pretty dang well, and it's both creatureless and 'walkerless, and still maintains a vice-like grip on the board state.

I'd run it BURG but then again I have no clue about standard and just like the acronym best.

Youre right, 4 colors without green will be a bitch at best. So do 5 color, add green and you gain access to Kiora, the Crashing Wave which is a bomb control card.
