Looking For A Commander

Deck Help forum

I currently have Edgar Markov, Breya, Meren, Kynaios and Tiro, and Mairsil sleeved up and ready to play. I'm thinking of taking Mairsil apart to build a dimir style midrange reanimator deck. I'm stuck between Sygg, River Cutthroat for easier control and more value from attacks, Nekusar, the Mindrazer to wheel into reanimation and to be annoying, and Taigam, Sidisi's Hand for filtering and targeted removal on a stick.

I start building one, then switch to another midway. So I'm left a huge pile of cards that do nothing together. SOS please send help.

for dimir reanimator, Vela the Night-Clad is a very cool commander (in generally she is pretty awesome). While not adding to reanimation herself, she provides a win condition for both non-token reanimation as well as token themes.

Also has a nice combat ability.

I tried Vela a while back and wasn't very satisfied with her, despite her interraction with rite of replication. Granted, that was about four years ago and I doubt I did a very good job on the deck then. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll keep her in mind as well.

Nekusar has great synergy with Phyresis, so, there's my recommendation.

I didn't read the text-box because I'm busy, but if you're looking for a fun (for yourself) commander, I'd choose Zur the Enchanter. Or Atraxa, Praetors' Voice for infect/superfriends.

I enjoy Nekusar tremendously, but frankly, I think reanimator shenanigans are a bit wasted on him--he is quite powerful once he gets going, and it is generally best to focus one's deck on rapidly increasing the speed with which he simultaneously kills all your opponents.

Still, if you go this route, I would love to see your decklist, so be sure to link it here! Nekusar decks tend to be pretty straightforward and bland, and it would be quite refreshing to see something new.

My one piece of advice for a Nekusar deck, if you choose that path, is Library of Leng. Many people seem to overlook this card, but it is quite wonderful. Many wheels force a discard, which is not always desirable, as you might have multiple useful cards in-hand. Library negates that problem, allowing you to discard and replace your junk, while retaining the cards you want.

Sweet, someone else that likes Taigam, Sidisi's Hand. I was trying to find lists online to help build him, and I couldn't find that much. He is a fine reanimator commander, since it is easy to dump your big boys in the graveyard using his ability. His "skip your draw phase" text is actually pretty tech, if you run things like Uba Mask or Zur's Weirding that screw with draws, and Necropotence since you can't draw cards anyway. The problem with that last one is you can't discard, so you will need to find other ways to get reanimator targets in the bin.

I might try Neksusar out. I had him as a standard wheel deck before and found it boring. Reanimator nekusar is also something I haven't played against yet, so I'll give that a try and see how it goes. cdkime, I'll be sure and link a list once I get a draft together.
