First time Reanimator!

Commander Deck Help forum

So I bought the Commander 2014 Sworn into Darkness deck and tried turning it into a reanimator/control deck using Sheoldred, Whispering One. Now this is my first time making a reanimator deck and second commander deck and I'd love some feedback on it Sheoldred, Whispering Reanimator.

I'd suggest changing the commander and having Sheoldred as one of the 99. Part of the appeal of reanimator is that you can discard really big creatures like Sheoldred and pull them out onto the battlefield way earlier than you're supposed to. If she's in the command zone she's not going to be much help to you until very late in the game.

Do you play paper or on-line. The reason I ask is because Bazaar of Baghdad is probably the best land for a reanimator deck Diamond Valley is nice too. It is a $350 paper card and $2.50 online. Sheoldred, Whispering One doesn't make a great commander. She/he cost a huge amount to begin with and doesn't have an immediate impact on the board. I prefer Xiahou Dun, the One-Eyed again $100 paper and $.09 on-line. Balthor the Defiled is also pretty sweet. Stinkweed Imp is a must have. You will also want cards like Living Death and Volrath's Stronghold

I play with paper. I see what you guys are saying but I like Sheoldred, Whispering One as my commander because I run so much ramp I'll get to play her mid game, maybe even early game if I can play it right. I can also bring her back if she gets exiled. But if I can find another legendary creature that helps reanimate as much as Sheoldred does and won't make me homeless if I buy it then I'll switch. Stinkweed Imp would be a pretty good addition but I'm so afraid of self milling (I know that sounds ridiculous coming from a guy playing a reanimator deck). But I'll defiantly try it. As for Living Death and Volrath's Stronghold, HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THESE CARDS??

Balthor the Defiled Is a good choice for commander, but if you are happy stick with sheoldred.

Make sure you include:

Animate Dead Dance of the Dead Necromancy Buried Alive

Depending on your strategy, and format, you could also considerZombie Infestation as value for discardand Dawn of the Dead to bring them back (1 time only though)

Actually if you have a way to sac creatures, Dawn of the Dead can bring the same creature back turn after turn.

Another good discard outlet is Necromancer's Stockpile.
