Major overhauls. —May 30, 2016

Recently decided to try out Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet instead of Falkenrath Aristocrat, I added a few Stromkirk Captains to play to the strengths of tribal vampires, and I am now testing out Slaughter Pact.

I believe in the current meta these changes will prove fruitful. Tell me what you all think!

As insurance against wipe, or an alternative to the painful Dark Confidant or Kalastria Highborn, do consider Grim Haruspex. It synergizes with your Falkenrath Aristocrat and Bloodghast as well.

What would you consider to be an ideal opening hand, and what's the best way to go about playing it, generally speaking? I'm really interested in this deck, but I'm not a super-experienced player, so I could use some advice.

Add me to the hater list. I'm not a so called "warrior of justice" but, it still isn't very nice to people that have had that experience of rape, or had a friend commit suicide because rape. An if you call me a whiner, then that is your problem.

And it's humanly desensitizing.

I agree with trollslayer. It really is a tasteless use of the word rape that adds nothing to the deck name and has the potential to trigger victims who use this site. Please change the name of the deck.

+1 for using Guttural Response

Can you to a small section for how to play the deck? This could include what hands to keep, which ones to mulligan, which creatures you value more at different times of the game, etc. Also, a really aggressive counterspell, Dash Hopes?

Felixlives says... #13

I'm with you SuperLicorice the deck isn't as easy to play vampire aggro as it once was its now controly and toolbox a little "what to wear" section would be helpful to people just being introduced to the deck. I'm on the fence about dash hopes its a super powerful card but if I'm using a cs I want it to counter something. In my experience giving your opponent the option never gives you what you need. Sure 5 damage is a hell of a hit if it means I get board wiped or something equally devastating that 5 damage is trivial

vampires are entirely too slow of the format trust me, when you go up against splinter twin and your opponent either bolts or counters all your vampires as you cast them and on turn 3-4 Exarch splinter twin game, unless you can counter them or blow up the enchant or exarch. Tarmogoyf turn 3 4/5. They cost too much mana to play and when win cons in the format are rolling turn 4-5 a lot of the time tapping out every turn to cast a creature with toughness under 4 is kind of pointless, trust me.

ArmyJM07:I play my deck against all sorts of Modern Meta decks and mine performs just fine. Sure, it doesn't win every game, but with smart Sideboard tech, and knowledge of what to play and when to play it, my deck can contend.I would rather lose some games of Magic and retain a unique and well thought out deck build than to just net-deck and copy a deck someone else built.

Felixlives: Thanks again for always testing out my deck and giving me your thoughts, they are always much appreciated. :)Truth be told, there are some rough match ups for this deck, but honestly, I haven't had much of a problem with infect. With a good Thoughtseize or Inquisition of Kozilek, you can pluck the key cards from their hand (such as their creature seeing how they usually run so few) then they will be left with primarily pump spells. Infect hasn't really been a problem, but with an unlucky hand, or not keeping the right hand of cards against certain decks, it can really be an uphill battle. :/

SuperLicorice:I will gladly do that when I've got some time to dedicate to a detailed description. :) Also, I've never been a fan of Dash Hopes because if a spell is relevant enough to counter, my opponent will most likely just take the 5 damage.. in theory that might seem like a good thing, but in my eyes, it is a glorified burn spell, and the 2 CMC slot in my deck is pretty well filled with cards I'd rather be playing. :/ Thank you for the response though. That is a spell I've never had recommended.

infinitelennies: Thank you kind sir!

Great deck, but is there a way to make this more budget friendly for us with bleeding pockets?

You should really consider changing the name of this deck. Rape is not a word we should be using for the lulz.

Ender666666 join the club of not liking it. ask someone on the thread just chatting- take 3 to link you to the social justice warrior thread.

I'm going to step in on behalf of OP and point out that if you have nothing relevant to say about the deck, you probably shouldn't be posting here. You may request, as an addition to an otherwise productive comment, that the name of the deck be reconsidered. You may also post on OP's wall to that effect. But you are not welcome to post uninvited essays about social issues on a site dedicated to a TCG.

We (the admins) have made it clear that the deck's name does not violate any of our rules. OP is not compelled to change it, regardless of whether you dislike it.

Although I understand what you're saying Epoch, it doesn't change the fact that the name is obviously (intentionally?) provocative and offensive, lowers the quality of this site's community, possibly causing certain members to feel excluded or unwanted.

And regarding the posting of those thoughts from elsewhere, they were not uninvited. The previous poster had made light of my statement and I expanded on my thoughts in case I hadn't made myself clear.

Anyhow, I've said my piece. I'm done in this thread.

I see Olivia Voldaren in pretty much every red and black vampire deck. I just... I don't see why she is so good. 4 mana for the 3/3 flier. Not too bad. Lighting bolts were probably used on early threats. But then, seven mana to activate her abilities and steal something? Captivating Vampire does similar things. but does stop your blockers of course. But also gives all other vampires +1/1. and his steal is permanent. As an experienced vampire player, could you please explain why I see her so often? Perhaps a scenario? And tell me if she would fit in my vamp deck?

NoobVampireDeck-Needs help! Please!!!!
