EDIT: Post field ban, this deck feels awful and I am sad :( At least it got one good FNM in.
Kind of a "Standard Skred" big-red deck, focused around Torbran + a slew of different Chandra planeswalkers.
Sideboard is very WIP. Deck has so far performed well against Golos, red aggro and rb aggro builds, as well as various less popular builds i.e izzet fires etc. Green decks playing plenty of big butt creatures has been rougher, however.
Some fun things about it:
- Chandra, Acolyte makes Chandra, Artisan ultimate on her 2nd turn on the board with her uptick ability.
- Sarkhan + Torbran + dragon token makes 3 toughness and below creatures completely unable to attack as they get swept from the board.
- Chandra + Tibalt lets you produce a continuous wave of 1/1 devil blockers, which become very nasty once you get a torbran on board.
- Chandra's Triumph is very medium without Chandra, but once you have a chandra on board you are suddenly killing Golos or Lovestruck Beast for 2 mana, and taking out a lot of planeswalkers (ones not named Oko anyway...).
Deck is really fun, and I hope it remains viable in the post B&R meta (2019/10/21).
The Tectonic Rift and Legion Warboss in the side were for the Golos matchup, but they have been questionable so far. I also should possibly run 24 lands.
The deck has some really fast kills with its nut draws, and plays control pretty well vs aggressive decks. Not suggesting it's some hidden tier 1 deck, but I enjoy the way it plays a lot, though I'm mostly a modern player :)
