I would recommend putting Blood Artist in your main board to take advantage of all of your kill spells and card:Altar's Reap for more card draw. Like seeing all of these mono-black decks popping up lately.

card:Altar's Reap would work wonderfully in this deck. However I can see white/blue control smacking you around a bit.

I'd recommend putting atleast 2 Killing Wave s in the mainboard, especially with the Blood Artist s out there. It isn't a very often seen card, but Sangromancer does really well when combined with Liliana of the Veil and Killing Wave . If possible, Surgical Extraction could fit comfortably on your sideboard.

Typhoid rat instead of gravecrawler?

The reason for Gravecrawler is the chance to recast from the GY. Even if they sit in GY until another zombie is out. You can't blow up Typhoid Rats with a Mortarpod more than once. :(

Not sure how its gonna work since it's had very little play testing but my hopes are high.

butcher ghoul instead of the gravecrawlers since they have undying

Tried that already. Butcher Ghoul can only be sacrficed once and is more expensive in terms of mana cost. To be honest the deck has enough 2 drops.

Gravecrawler can be sacrficed again and again and again and again with minimal recast. Mortarpod and Blood Artist make them preferable as long as another zombie exists to allow the GY cast.

If only a playset of Gravecrawler was as inexpensive as a playset of Butcher Ghoul ... :(

if you wanna use gravecrawler like that you should add 4 more zombie cards so you can increase the chances of being able to have the recast of gravecrawler you cant gaurentee that you will always have a zombie on the field just take a look at some of the basic decks ive made it can make sure you have no zombies

I've looked at your decks and I can't see anything that makes me fearful tbh. More zombies would be preferable but the deck is not reliant on them. Whenever a zombie comes into play, I cast the dead from my GY. The deck has multiple win conditions but zombiepocalype is not one of them.

sorry forgot my burn deck is not up on here, but its decks that have cards like go for the throat and burn decks that you have to watch out for

Birthing pod can tutor your blood artists with gravecrawler. The damage in paying 2 life is negligible once you have 2 out. Fume spitter is an early hitter and quick enabler for a later tragic slip.

Gravecrawler with only 8 zombies seems kinda greedy, might wanna add in a few more. Highborn Ghoul is aggressive but is horribly blanked by Butcher Ghoul is quite nice since it has undying and also works wonders if you decide to try out the Killing Wave + Blood Artist combo KO. There's also Diregraf Ghoul which is cheap and also powerful.

I agree, the two zombies you have are sufficient fodder for Mortarpod . Using Diregraf Ghoul in place of Reassembling Skeleton would be ideal.

I've been seeing mirrors and decks similar to this at fnm for the past two weeks. From a playing point, really frustrating cause I'm running humans (vulnerable to removal) but from a deckbuilding point, the whole blood artist thing is pretty clever.

Considering the deck's ridiculously low curve, I suggest cutting 2 lands in favor of [Diregraf Ghoul], [Reassembling Skeleton], or even a couple of [Doom Blade]s. Another choice would be [Skirsdag High Priest]

BennyFrancis tried it with 18, 19, 20 and 21 mana. Just ended up mana screwed alot of the time in draws. 24 is base in mono decks so 22 was already under deck value for the low curve. Even with the low curve you don't want to be sitting with a Phyrexian Obliterator and a Lashwrithe in your hand and upable to cast either.

SphinxFish Do you want to link the others for me? Instead of just talking crap about a deck that was playtested and changed card by card over the last 2 month. Show me the carbon copies of which you speak or I'll just remove both comments anyway.

some great hand control could be fun. i run Distress Despise and Surgical Extraction in a similar deck. That's just a suggestion +1 always for zombies, may not be the best tribe in magic but always my favorite.
