More FNM wins! —March 21, 2015

After having moderate success due to hate cards last tournament, (there is no update for it) I had tremendous success this time. Overall record 3-1 matches, 6-2 games.

Match 1: Mono green: 2-0. This deck was less powerful and less fast than mine. My opponent also got mana starved the first game after keeping a 1-lander.

Match 2: Affinity: 0-2. The only losses for the night, I couldn't outrace the opponent after mulliganning down to five. Game 2, I was disrupted with a Blood Moon on turn two, after only playing a Birds of Paradise turn one, which was promptly hit by Galvanic Blast to deny me any useful mana.

Match 3: W/B Midrange: 2-0. I got a very fast hand with a turn 1 Gladecover Scout and two Ethereal Armors on turn two. The next turn, I followed it up with a Spirit Mantle. The only resistance came from a Dark Confidant which did nothing for the whole game. The game was over by turn 4. On game 2, my opponent mulliganed aggressively, attempting to hit a Thoughtseize in his oppening hand. After going down to four, and still not finding a Thoughtseize, he settled on what he could get. I had a great hand and won with little trouble again.

Match 4: Jund Dredge: 2-0. With a turn 1 Gladecover Scout, I was able to get out of the gates quickly. I worked around a Go for the Throat on a Kor Spiritdancer, which was acting as a draw engine, and an Abrupt Decay on an Unflinching Courage to secure an early win. Game 2, I started out with a Slippery Bogle and a Kor Spiritdancer, which was Abrupt Decayed. Ultimately, my opponent failed to draw or dredge into his Ray of Revelations or sac effects, so the bogle was able to finish him off.

With a total record of 6-2 games, I landed fourth place (which is weird, becasue I had a better record than the guy in third). There were no finals that night because the midnight prerelease of Dragons of Tarkir was about to begin.

I'm still going to be that guy, but If you want a midrange enchantment deck, I recommend that you take out Angelic Destiny. Really. It just is too slow for modern.

I've actually been having a lot of success with Angelic Destiny. My overall plan is to have 2 Destiny, 2 Daybreak Coronet, but I haven't been able to afford the second Coronet yet, so I've got three Angelic Destinies in for now. I don't want to take out more than that, because as I said, it has been working well for me. I've even seen some other winning lists run a couple of them.

I'd say eventually get a whole playset of daybreak coronet, I would lean more toward extra rancor and less unflinching courage at that point. My friend plays a similar deck and it is rather nasty, lifelink definitely makes the midgame nasty but you only need it once. +1 from me but I'd be concerned with overall mana cost of your enchantments in a more competitive setting...with ethereal armor and spiritdancers ability you wanna be able to dump enchantments frequently

@Mjams1989: I do want some more Daybreak Coronets, but they're just so expensive. I'll take out another Angelic Destiny for a second, and probably a Birds of Paradise for a third. (I don't know what yet for a fourth). Right now, I have the Unflinching Corages in because lifelink wins me a good portion of my games. Without lifegain to stop retaliating damage, I could get into some serious trouble. The good thing is that Daybreak Coronet gives lifelink, so I could remove an Unflinching Courage each time and add in more Rancors. If I can just get ahold of some Daybreak Coronets, everything will click into place, just as you said. Right now, I run more lands than average and even have two Birds of Paradise to make up for the higher curve.

Thanks for the +1! Once I can afford additional Coronets, I'll make some of those changes.
