Large-ish Update —Aug. 11, 2020

Took out a lot of stuff to make room for planeswalkers and other cards that would make the decks’ stax gameplay easier to establish. Also did away with our win cons. Focusing on making the deck toxic enough to force opponents to scoop.

Key additions include:

Yorion, Sky Nomad;

Teferi, Time Raveler;

Narset, Parter of Veils;

Teferi’s Puzzle Box; and

Containment Priest

The deck looks really good man in all honesty im having a hard time suggesting cards. The only two that I can think of and you probably get them suggested to you all the time is Conjurer's Closet and Detection Tower/Glaring Spotlight. The closet helps with creature etb's and the other two help if your opponent is using cards like Asceticism.

    If you got time I have a similiar deck focused on etb's though mine is pretty standard compared to yours.

Thanks! Don't forget to upvote if you like the deck. :)

The Closet is an okay card but I think I have enough flicker effects in the deck already. I would prefer instant speed flicker effects if ever I felt the need to add more. I'll try to look at your list in a bit.

I suggest something like Soul Warden or Suture Priest?

And how screwed are you once Felidar Guardian is gone?

Great question! Tbh, I never really thought about it that much. Without the Guardian, i’ll probably just use Archaeomancer and flicker effects to repeatedly trigger ETB abilities to help keep opponents locked out of the game. We can also use Eldrazi Displacer + Leonin Relic-Warder and Parallax Wave. Then there are also loops that use Altar of the Brood to mill opponents out. I guess the deck has an abundance of win cons outside Felidar Guardian. I just like it because it is the win con which requires the least number of pieces to go off.

Tbh this is an amazing deck! Totally going to refer to this for inspiration! However, I can't help but wonder how the deck can work it's way around stax cards such as winter orb/ tangle wire etc as it effects yourself too. Seems amazing though!

Are you using the displacer to flicker leonin at instant speed to exile your opponents stuff forever? I’ve been looking for a way to run that loop without using cards I normally wouldn’t bother with.

Yes. I was also on the fence about using Leonin Relic-Warder but seeing I could use it with the Displacer to permanently exile stuff I decided to try it and it has been working nicely.

Thanks! Feel free to hit that upvote button sny time. Lol.

The deck has 16 mana rocks so it is able to effectively insulate itself from cards like Winter Orb and Mana Vortex. The deck also has a lot of low cmc creatures and artifacts which allows it to maintain its momentum even with Tangle Wire in play.

another addition that may be worth considering would be Phyrexian Metamorph since you are already running Leonin Relic-Warder. If you play the phyrexian metamorph copying the leonin relic warder its etb trigger allows phyrexian metamorph to exile itself and its leave the battlefield trigger will bring the phyrexian metamorph back giving you another infinite ETB loop

That is certainly worth considering. I'll see if I can still fit the metamorph in the deck. I'm not quite sure what I can remove to slot it in yet as the current setup is working quite well.

This seems like a cool deck. I think Gonti, Lord of Luxury should be added.

Bigant1 Thanks! Gonti is already in my maybeboard. It fits the flicker theme but I would much rather have ETB effects that are somewhat stax-related. Gonti doesn't do much to stifle my opponents' game.

What about Plaguecrafter? Screams flicker awesomeness!

October 8, 2018 11:27 p.m.

Megalomania says... #14

lunchbox0818 I'm not convinced Plaguecrafter would work here since it also requires me to sacrifice a creature or a planeswalker. Unless I have other expendable creatures in play, it ends up in the graveyard. Not saying it's a bad card but it's not for this deck. I would recommend it to Muldrotha, the Gravetide players though.

Have you thought about Fall of the Thran? Blinking that bad boy on demand sounds fun!

Lusterblade that does sound interesting. I will need to think about it. Being able to flicker an MLD effect is great. I am a bit concerned about the cost though. I like the idea and I will try it. Thanks!

I'm surprised not to see Temporal Mastery. I'm not much of an EDH player, can you explain?

randomguyguy

Temporal Mastery would be great it a Miracle/topdeck themed list. The focus of this list is more on flicker and stax.

Hatmanjesus says... #19

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Brago, king eternal would fit the deck fairly well, as he allows for further abuse of the etb/ltb effects already present.

November 7, 2018 11:43 p.m.

Megalomania says... #20

Hatmanjesus Brago was in the list for the first few months but I found it to be underwhelming. It works much better as a commander. In this deck, it's more of a win more card. Not saying it's bad, but the slot is better used on other ETB or instant speed flicker effects.

How do you deal with torpor orb effects?

November 16, 2018 8:53 p.m.

Megalomania says... #22

Legion564 every deck has a weakness and that’s what Torpor Orb is for this deck. We have some counterspells, Aura of Silence and Reality Acid to deal with it but if you have other suggestions, they would be highly appreciated.

I_TappedWrong The Curio is an interesting suggestion. I don’t see the need for the other two unless the objective is to use Rector to play Omniscience then go infinite triggers and walker activation with Curio. That would be fun but would take the deck to an entirely different and somewhat less competitive direction. Thanks though!

Megalomania yes the academy rector is to get omniscience but I was also think of blowing up all lands kill academy rector get omniscience because cloudstone curio and omniscience out together is gross
