Toying with UGx Eldrazi

Modern Deck Help forum

I'd be interested in your thoughts about developing a deck based on Assault Formation, mainly with Benthic Infiltrator and Tide Drifter. I think I owe the idea to someone else on here but can't for the life of me remember where I saw it - props and credit where it is due, whoever you are!

Aside from the cards above and the inevitable inclusion of 4xMatter Reshaper; I don't know whether to go for things like Maw of Kozilek, Herald of Kozilek and Kozilek's Sentinel or to add for Silent Skimmer which seems epic in this build, plus can add Painful Truths to good effect and a great removal suite.

I could always leave it as /...? Open to ideas but would really like to maintain a strong Eldrazi theme i.e. nothing Planeswalker-y

This looks more like a Standard build, right?

Colorless + high toughness + NOT DEFENDER + modern staple = Spellskite :)

I have a deck with Assault Formation here. you can take a look if you want. Its more defenders than anything, but its worth a look. (and also I Think the 0/13 trees would be AMAZING!! Tree of Redemption Tree of Perdition)

Death By Wall! (Mono Red Defenders)

The trees is interesting - perhaps would be preferable from a flavour standpoint to use just the black one but I do like them both.

It could quite easily be Standard except it won't be long before Assault Formation is out right?

Spellskite is also a kick-ass choice, but a bit of a flavour fail. Would be a sure-fire include to ramp up the competitiveness though.

Don't forget about Oblivion Sower. It's a 5/8 so it benefits from Assault Formation and lets you snatch up any lands you exile with ingest. Vile Aggregate may also be a solid choice.

Do you think I could forget here and go Jund with it? Vile Aggregate and Silent Skimmer are nasty!

... or are Tide Drifter and Benthic Infiltrator just too good to pass up!?

BS-T If anything, you should add a third color for removal. UG normally doesn't have the best removal for the format. I would look into adding black for a BUG Assault deck. I've toyed around with the idea myself.

Just throwing this out there but Tower Defense is just huge in this kind of deck. Instant 2 mana insanely-pump-all-your-guys is a must :)

There should be a lot of colorless, non-eldrazi creatures too; have you looked into that already?

MadKat I hadn't actually considered others since I wanted to keep the Eldrazi influence strong - was there any in particular you had in mind?

frusciante7 holy bananas, good call, Triton Tactics can suck it lol

Toyed around with an extra wincon in the form of Priests of Norn a while ago and the combination of those two is just ridiculously OP :)

You also want a way to get Assault Formations out consistently each game through your opponent's removal. Muddle the Mixture is a pretty solid choice. Shred Memory is also good if you have processors or you use Oblivion Sower.

Doran, the Siege Tower can be used for more redundancy, but he's in Abzan colors.

The only other tutors that I can think of are Idyllic Tutor and Zur the Enchanter (who hilariously turns into a "4/4").

sylvannos you make some good points.

I've had a go but mid-brew I realised there were a lot of UG cards that begged inclusion so I gave up on trying to jam in the Black or Red for now. I'm sure it'll be something I revisit though. Thanks for all your input.

These Eldrazi are really bUGging me
