How the hell do you play storm?

I don't play Legacy much (I'm mostly a Modern player), but I have been looking at some Ad Nauseam Tendrils of Agony decks of late and they seem really interesting. The issue is that the deck's interactions are still very fuzzy to me, as I am not always sure what to tutor for, when to cast Brainstorm , etc. Would anyone care to impart their wisdom on playing ANT?
So Ad Nauseam let's you copy it any amount of times.
So you use it 5x and then cast your tendrils. It get's the hard cast (x1) and then another x5 for the Ad Nauseam reuse's.

Ritual, ritual, ritual, lions eye diamond, infernal tutor (sacing LED in response) get either past in flames and do everything again and then search up tenrils or get ad nauseam and get enough cards to count to 10 and get tendrils.
TL:DR
play 9 spells then cast Tendrils of Agony
here is a good primer, and explains all the finer modes of storm

ad nauseum's ability isn't casting a second spell each time that it happens, it is just repeating the spell due to the spell's one own effect. When you cast Ad nauseum, you just get a ton of cards to work with.

Not sure what your second comment is about Caligula. Casting Ad Nauseam
is a single spell, you get to repeat the "put a card into your hand and lose life" process any number of times, not the spell itself.
The first few turns are generally spent casting Ponder
or other similar cantrips to sculpt your hand. You can also be casting Cabal Therapy
(with or without Gitaxian Probe
) to remove problem hate cards like Force of Will
and such.
When you're ready to go off you basically have to cast 9 spells then have 4 mana left to cast Tendrils of Agony
. There are many ways to do this depending on what's in your hand at the time. You can just chain rituals together then cast Past in Flames
and do it all again then cast Tendrils of Agony
.
Or, you can use Infernal Tutor , crack Lion's Eye Diamond in response to get mana and the hellbent effect to search what you need at any given time.
Funnily enough, Ad Nauseam tends to be a plan B scenario since you can fizzle and/or kill yourself with it. Ideally, you flip over enough low/0 cost cards like Lotus Petal or Dark Ritual to be able to continue your combo.

I'm aware of how all the mechanics work and things like that, I was just looking for some tips as to the finer interactions in the deck, and how to use the cards to their best effect. Thanks to all!

Id say definitely read the primer link above, it was written by adam prosak who was very proficient with the deck when he was allowed to play in major events

Very carefully.
Usually the past in flames kill is the most used. You use Brainstorm/Ponder/Preordain to sculpt your hand, then go off with LEDs, Lotus Petals, rituals, PIF and Tendrils.

Wow, and I was going to answer like this...
"Play it the most un interactively way possible so that your opponent gets pissed and thinks that you are a douche."
I have no hard feelings at all about ANT decks. None whatsoever. Lol.

Storm is defiantly one of the most fun ways to win games. I love stringing together fistfuls of cards to mutilate opponents life points. I've seen more storm lately and less reanimators leading me to put a few Mindbreak Trap
in my sideboards.

Wait... so I have a follow-up question...
Lets say you have Pyromancer Ascension out and online... It copies some spells. Do the copies count towards storm?

O man... I didn't realize how old this thread was until just now... XD

To answer your question, no, an online Pyromancer Ascension does not double the storm count, but will give you a copy of the spell as normal. Count it as a free storm count if you will.

Storm is a triggered effect.
So for every spell cast before the card with 'storm' you get to copy it.
So say you Brainstorm , Draw a Lightning Bolt then kill something with it, then cast your Tendrils of Agony
Tendrils would cast 3x for a total of 6 Gained/ 6 Lost.
Once for the hard-cast and another 2x for the each spell before-hand.
It can be quite the fun mechanic with lots of decks abusing card draws, tapping/untapping and then finishing with Grapeshot just due to high spell slinging.
