Grave Pact and Tokens

Just some more random thinking, Grave Pact would just be mean with any token deck. Doubt it would see any competitive play, but it would be a fun thing to have just to mess with people.

It is a pretty sweet card in EDH. My friend plays it to great effect in his Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord deck, and I enjoy it in my Adun Oakenshield deck.

With an instant sac outlet and a few creatures it pretty much allows you to shut down any aggressive maneuvers.

I don't see why Grave Pact would be good in a token deck. In a sac deck It could work well but tokens don't go to the graveyard so it would render it pretty useless. Now something like Blood Artist in a token/sac deck I could see working well

Tokens do go to the graveyard...They just disappear after doing so.

Ooh your right well then that is a grand idea. I could see Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord Blood Artist Grave Pact making one hell of a deck in that case with some token gens

I've been building a B/W token deck, so I may try it out there. Doubt it would make the mainboard, but it might fit in the sideboard just for some fun shenanigans or if I'm feeling particularly dickish towards my friends that day.

Its much more powerful with Gravecrawler or Bloodghast , since they recur pretty easily. If you're just playing casual, throw in some Skullclamp and your friends will never let you play that deck again.

Skullclamp is overpowered just by itself. With that...Ouch.

Make sure you add Grave Betrayal to the mix just for some added overkill

xzzane - yep, my friends and I learned that first hand. One of our more experienced and longtime players pulled that crap on us. Threw in some Cabal Coffers and Exsanguinate too. Needless to say, he draws all the hate unless he tells us he's not playing that deck. Its actually a shame that good decks get hated on (I never unveiled my mass land killing deck because of that. Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite or Massacre Wurm with Living Plane or Nature's Revolt is too beast

Ouch, that must have been a nasty duel there. And yeah, it is a shame that good decks get hated on. Part of this game that makes it so fun is using your deck you built, and taking pride in your skill as a deck builder. And that would just be awesome to see. I love seeing combos like that haha. It's important to enjoy the bad parts of you as much as your good.

Yep. So I had to resort to a mono green deck with ridiculous ramp and enough group hug cards so that they have to keep me around for awhile. Then Nissa Revane makes my life untouchable and Primordial Hydra s wreck face. But they're starting to catch on...

Ran a standard deck back in the day with 4x Nether Traitor + Nantuko Husk + Gravepact. Insta board wipe anyone?
