A modern legal Glimpse of Nature?

So, I was looking at some of my old sliver cards and I was thinking. hive-stone + Dormant Sliver = Modern legal Glimpse of Nature ? I was thinking that maybe this could make a deck with a bunch of zero drop creatures, Manamorphose and the like, and a goblin-bushwacker could be a pretty quick game. Thoughts?

You'd have to find a way to sac off the Dormant Sliver . Keep in mind that he gives Defender as well as the other effect. Otherwise, Goblin Bushwhacker would kind of be pointless.

Glimpse of Nature is Modern Legal as Kamigawa was released after Mirrodin and Modern is Mirrodin onwards for expansions and 8th Edition onwards for Core sets. Hivestone can be amazing if your creatures do similar buffs like what Slivers do alone, so you wouldn't really need to mess with creatures to much, Slivers pump themselves good enough. I actually don't know of another creature type that buffs its own kind like the Slivers so your fine with out using to many other creatures.

Glimpse is on the banlist for modern. No one wanted to see Elf Ball.

Wow I didn't know that, I just knew my Affinity deck was destroyed for modern lol

Right sorry, meant to say that I would use Infernal Plunge to sac the sliver.

mozerdozer, don't you mean Moldy Cheerios? That is the legacy deck I am basing this Modern legal version off of, except using Goblin Bushwhacker as the win condition. Instead on countering the creatures with Chalice of the Void and hitting Tendrils of Agony with a Songs of the Damned as the legacy version does, I would stick the creatures and swing for game using Infernal Plunge to drop the bushwhacker and sac the Dormant Sliver . Anyone think this could be a competitive R/U/G Modern combo?

My legacy list is current Moldy Cheerios surprisingly enough :/. I'm not sure how viable this combo is due to the banning of GSZ and deck manipulators. It seems like it would be turn 5 or 6 usually, maybe turn 4 or 3 at best. Also, creature hate is usually the most prevalent hate and can easily take care of Dormant Sliver.

Hopefully the turn Dormant Sliver hits the field, the combo goes off and it's GG. I understand though that the bannings definitely hurt this kind of combo, this was just a fun idea I had when I saw the sliver. Maybe if Crystalline Sliver was Modern, this would be more viable :P
I will still make an attempt for casual play online, just thought I would bring that combo to the attention of the general public in case anyone wanted to go casual on their friend's asses.

By the way, these are some of the creatures I am considering, feel free to tell me if I missed any good additions!
And possibly
I'm considering the last two just because I don't think I have enough creatures and they almost drop for free. The only problem, and this goes for the priest and cantor too, is that they are dead draws if I don't have enough mana to cast them. Any ideas for other creatures this deck could use?

Hm. I'm thinking this is not so doable anymore. I was thinking that it should not be too hard to pull out 6 creatures and swing for game with the bushwhacker, but now I'm realizing that there might not be enough cheap/free creatures in the Modern format to draw out 6 of them. I could be wrong, I will continue taking suggestions from you guys and playtesting it. Please let me know if there are any good creatures that I missed.

Also, it is rather difficult to find Dormant Sliver sometimes.

OH NO! Magic the Gathering Online says that Dormant Sliver + Hivestone doesn't let you draw cards when you cast creatues... Can someone please cite some rules that support or deny this? I was certain that global effects applied to creatures entering the battlefield

I think that its because Hivestone says that creatures you control are slivers, but Dormant Sliver says that when a sliver comes into play draw a card. I don't think that your creatures are slivers yet so don't trigger Dormant Sliver 's ability :/

It is obviously because you don't control the creature until after it has entered the battlefield, I'm just frustrated that I didn't see that before, lol.

Actually, I still don't get it...
611.3c Continuous effects that modify characteristics of permanents do so simultaneously with the permanent entering the battlefield. They dont wait until the permanent is on the battlefield and then change it. Because such effects apply as the permanent enters the battlefield, they are applied before determining whether the permanent will cause an ability to trigger when it enters the battlefield.
it should have worked.

It should work. however, MTGO tries to encompass a plethora of rules and occasionally confuses them. According to a guy at FNM, MTGO would let him trigger Sword of War and Peace by using Spikeshot Elder 's activated ability.

Yeah, this has to be a mistake. I plan to email Wizards and quote the rule above, but it seems that I can only run this with real cards at the moment...

Wizards sent me a response today saying that this combination does in fact work and that their system had a bug. There are currently working to fix this glitch, at which point my Modern Moldy Cheerios deck will hit MTGO like a hurricane :D
