Help me make Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur Work!

Deck Help forum

Hey guys for the last while i've been experimenting with ways in which i can make Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur work in an EDH environment. I've tried a couple builds but they haven't really had a focus and haven't worked as well as i've hoped. What i want from you guys is suggestions in how i can build Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur EDH. Whether that is suggesting a focus for the deck or just suggesting cards either will be helpful! Thanks in advance :)

Lots of reactive spells, having so many more cards will make one-for-ones like Counterspell and all it's variants more useful. And the occasional win-con or two :p

Ooh, Stormtide Leviathan could be a good one. Especially with all those Counterspells to protect it.

I'd say lots of ramp (but that's obvious) maybe stuff like Wheel of Torture, The Rack, and Rackling and cards that requires you to discard for costs since you'd have no shortage of cards (e.g. Turbulent Dreams)

You could also do a self mill to win using Laboratory Maniac

Some other cards that might be good to use are Chamber of Manipulation, Diplomatic Escort, Forbid, Hisoka, Minamo Sensei, Mind Over Matter, Grimoire of the Dead, Disrupting Shoal, Omniscience, and Enter the Infinite

I think it depends on how you want to go about winning. Dumping someone's hand is great and whatnot (not to mention drawing cards), but it's kind of pointless if there's no direction that you're going.

How you decide your primary win-con will determine how you should build. For example, I have a Memnarch/Thada Adel deck that uses Jin-Gitaxias as the general because, in my opinion, mana + card draw = options. That, and Memnarch isn't the only win-con; I also have both major Eldrazis in there to kick teeth in.

The card draw, ideally, is to help me pull one of two infinite mana combos, along with Memnarch, and then steal the board.

If that doesn't work, then I have another way to win by repeatedly blowing the board up. (Mycosynth Lattice + Darksteel Forge + Nevinyrral's Disk)

As you can see, it's possible to build a deck within a shell that has multiple wincons. Just figure out how you want to do it; that should determine what kind of shell you want to develop.

@smackder: Do you have an available decklist for the EDH deck involving Jin-Gitaxias yet? As soon as you can put a rough draft up I'm sure some of us can come up with suggestions.
