Cards like Heartless Summoning
Deck Help forum

When I found Heartless Summoning, I was really inspired and don't want to think of a deck, which doesn't contain it ;-)
But are there other, similar Cards?

What is a Card type in this case?
Does it mean, creature or sorcery or instant or something else?
Good hints by the way :-)

Blood Funnel is by far and away the most similar card I can think of. 2-drop black enchantment that makes certain things cheaper at a drawback. I love these kinds of cards, but generally they aren't very competative. If you want something to go along with Heartless Summoning for casual play, I can't recommend Myr Superion enough.
Edit: And yes, Card Type means Creature, Instant, etc.

For Semblance Anvil, you exile a card from your hand when it enters the battlefield. Any card types of that card (like creature or artifact or whatever) get cheaper. However, this does mean card disadvantage, so it isn't always ideal.

In Modern? Not many. Cloud Key comes to mind. Goblin Electromancer is also very combo-y. Etherium Sculptor is a card. Then there are cards, which reduce the cost of spells of a specific color, like Stormscape Familiar.

These are great proposals. Thank you very much.
I restarted MtG 3 months ago and refreshed my 40k Cards to 50k meanwhile. As I can see, there are still some cards I need to get :-)
I still can't imagine how cool Heartless Summoning is. There are so many Combos which can be easily done with it.
When I have an overview, I might post one or two of my most favorite decks. Maybe I can manage to make it a possible 4-5 round win at least.

Well, Heartless Summoning can do turn 2 kills if you so desire. Just use two Myr Retrievers. My primary Modern deck is a Heartless Summoning combo deck that is hilarious.

Ah so you are doing it with Altar of the Brood I guess :-)
Someone wrote that this concept is too slow, so I was carefully trying to say, that I think otherwise ;-)
I already ordered my Myr Retrievers yesterday, when I discovered my new beloved Heartless Summoning.
I just have to check if I own Altar of the Brood as well.

The other ways people will typically win with Heartless Summoning loops is Bitter Ordeal, Grapeshot, or Falkenrath Noble. Of these, Grapeshot requires red, which is typically not as good as blue. Falkenrath Noble dies to removal too easily. And Bitter Ordeal costs too much, the fastest you can go off is turn 3 with a perfect hand. Plus none of them can be cast for free if you can also pitch a Myr Moonvessel. Me and Quail have been working on tuning the lists, and we both think that Altar of the Brood is the best version.

Thanks again. I had Altar of the Brood in mind anyway. I wanted to build around that and with Myr Retriever but the possibilities seem almost endless :-)

Semblance Anvil is similar, but it isn't always as effective.
Also if you are building a combo deck with small artifact creatures, Krark-Clan Ironworks can also do the same thing, although not half as well.
