Just found a new infinite combo when using artifacts!

Sai, Master Thopterist + Vedalken Mastermind + Mox Opal + Paradox Engine

First, tap Mox Opal for blue mana, then with Vedalken Mastermind you bounce Mox Opal back into your hand. You recast mox opal and you trigger Paradox Engine which untaps Vedalken Mastermind. Then you reset the loop and cast mox opal an infinite number of times. You do however have to have 3 extra artifacts on the field in order for the metalcraft mechanic to function, but that shouldn't be too hard to get since we're playing commander.

If you have any other artifacts such as Sol Ring, this is an infinite mana combo; if you have cast triggers such as Sai, Master Thopterist this is infinite token combo; if you have any ETB effects whenever another card enters the battlefield, this can go infinite as well.

Just overall, I just felt this would be sweet to share this since I found it literally by accident when building my Sai, Master Thopterist artifact deck for commander. It's pretty consistent as long as Vedalken Mastermind remains on the battlefield.

Nice find. I'm sure you will find many other combos too as you play and alter the deck. My first EDH was Karn, Silver Golem and it was like Christmas every time I played it. I'd find some new to me way for various things to interact in ridiculous ways...

I'd like to mention a combo I've had good results with in the past (in casual, not EDH) that does something similar, that I found in the same way. Vedalken Archmage or Riddlesmith + Words of Wind + any 0-cost artifact becomes something very like ": Each opponent returns X permanents to their hand."

If you use your Sai, Master Thopterist and Mox Opal alongside my Vedalken Archmage and Words of Wind, if I'm following it right, it becomes something like ": Each opponent returns a permanent to their hand. Create a 1/1 Thopter token." Or if you're in Commander, what about Mox Amber?

Sorry, didn't mean to start building your deck for you.

That's honestly a really cool combo! Honestly I think it could work really well even with something like Metallurgic Summonings or Thopter Spy Network as back up for those thopter tokens.

I think if you do it right it might also just create infinite tokens too. If I'm not mistaken.

Not that I mean to ruin anyone's fun because commander is full of "oops, accidental infinite combo lol" moments (ESPECIALLY when playing artifact decks), but Words of Wind reads each PLAYER, and Vedalken Archmage is a cast trigger. this means that whenever you CAST an artifact spell (meaning while that artifact is still on the stack) you would draw a card, Words of Wind replaces that with a global "bounce a thing" effect, and you have to bounce a permanent before the artifact which you cast for 0 (ie Mox Amber) comes into play. So to do this combo, you need two 0 drop artifacts, both of which must produce a minimum of one mana. I guess it also works with Sol Ring + some 0 cost artifact that makes one mana. Just want to keep you guys informed before you try to combo someone off with this.

If you want a real fun time, build an artifact deck and put Mycosynth Lattice in it. Then try to stop that deck from going infinite. It's a real challenge.

DuTogira Good catch. I used the Sol Ring variation--I should have put that in, not sure how I missed it. More credit to you!

Thanks! It is actually pretty sweet, it generates more than just the infinite value you get from just bouncing the card infinitely in the right build.
