Forgotten Mechanics You'd Like to See Return

I have a few myself. In no particular order.
Wither - I.e. Everlasting Torment . Such a good way to deal combat damage.
Transfigure - No, not transmute, Fleshwrither 's ability. I realize this one would be used sparingly... but a buy-a-box promo? (Affinity for Artifacts coming back raised the bar). I'd personally want a 3 drop.
Real 'Protection from XXX' - How hard is it to remember the acronym D.E.B.T.? Can't be D.amaged, E.nchanted, B.locked, T.argeted. Granted far too many people struggle with their, there, and they're... so maybe I'm asking too much.
Retrace - I.e. Spitting Image . Such a good use for excess lands.
Anyone else?

I really like Cascade. While it is busted wide open, the potential for Chaos that actually helps you is really good.

Ripple-Things like Surging Dementia , I love the idea and I think it could be interesting in a standard set, especially on more creatures

Cipher- Whispering Madness .
Conspire- Mine Excavation .

I'd like to see Gravestorm become something. It's only on Bitter Ordeal and I'd like to see it on more cards.
On another note I'd love to see dredge come back even though I know it's never going to happen.

Dredge is another one to hope for as a buy-a-box promo. Too broken to focus on multiple new cards... but one, maybe.

While more than a simple mechanic, Experience Counters commanders in allied colors in a new precon would be nice, even though these wouldn't be forgotten mechanics.
I'd like to see some more Tribal Spells that take advantage from actually being played in their tribal, awarding us with some bonus effect, whipe still being playable without the tribe, but without bonus.
I'd like the comeback of my favourite mechanic, Suspend, as seen on Jhoira of the Ghitu . If not that, more cards that work with time counters, as we've seen with As Foretold , that can combo off with much older cards like Timecrafting .

Transform, along with more support for it. I'll second rebound and add retrace.

I would like to see entwine, multikicker, conspire, and protection return, as they are all very fascinating mechanics that can be very interesting when used properly. There are plenty of ways to bypass protection, so it is not as overpowered as some people believe it to be.
They may not be named mechanics, but I would like to see the themes of "converted mana cost matters" and "hand size matters" return at some point, since they were very unusual ideas that promoted esoteric strategies.

Personally Entwine, Haunt, Hellbent, Extort and Splice. The one thing is these are such weird mechanics and I feel like if they actually tried to work with them a bit they could have some really cool cards.

Tbh I've really liked all of the Ravnica/RTR/GRN/RNA mechanics and the guild mechanics, but i feel like they'd be more fun/balanced if they were included in not just their color but a third for each.

Modular!! (Like Arcbound Worker ) And please, some more that cost less than 5 mana!

cdkime - I also kinda like licids. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Transmogrifying Licid was the inspiration for equipment ever becoming a thing. Kinda makes them a vague yet important part of what MtG is today.

Actually, I also like Flanking ( Sidewinder Sliver ) because as an aggro player, I like it when my 1/1s trade up.

Meld Cards would be sick. I wish they would print one at around the power level of Delver of Secrets Flipfor no other reason than that in competitive tournaments it’d be kinda funny to watch people assemble a melded card every match. (Does this make me a bad person? Perhaps)
Other mechanics that I think are super sweet, but just weren’t implemented well in their respective sets: Inspired (untap shenanigans are sick), Transmute, Ingest (with some top-of-deck or Ingest-matters themes, this mechanic has a ton of space to explore), Poisonous (as a “fair” version of Infect), Exploit, Miracle, and especially Living Weapon, where the only decent one was Batterskull (which was broken).

@Vman
Oh no, I for sure hope that Phyrexian mana and infect both get brought back come next Mirrodin block. I was just listing some of the more obscure bits that deserve a second shot.
I was gonna plug a #unbangitprobe meme here but honestly Izzet Phoenix really doesn’t need the help

I still disagree with Mark Rosewater that haunt was a difficult mechanic to understand, so I dearly would like to see it return, at some point.
Vman, I feel that infect is too powerful, but I definitely believe that there is much more design space to explore with Phyrexian mana (i.e., a Phyrexian version of any iconic card).

Assembling Contraptions. Yeah, I know they’re not legal in Commander for most tables, and I know most un-sets won’t bring back mechanics, but gosh doggit! It is fun and my Breya deck wants new toys!

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Banding. Banding might be difficult to understand, but it has a whole lot of potential for interesting offensive plays and strong, trample-proof defences. Unfortunately, a lack of viable cards with banding holds it back.
I also really like the idea of Hellbent, as sort of an anti-you-need-card-draw-to-be-competitive. Again interesting mechanic held back by lack of implementation.
While not really a mechanic, I would love to see licids , and their unique ability, return.
