With the current Temur cards in Khans, I can see this guy getting some love. I'd like to build around him. What cards do you typically see in Animar lists? Also, what cards from Khans would be good?

Animar is already one of the best commanders in the format.

My favorite card in an Animar, Soul of Elements deck has to be Gigantomancer hands down. It was won me some games in very odd fashion, but Animar makes playing the card so much easier!

Blightsteel Colossus , eldrazi legends etc. can all be freebies on your top end (although you can probably win with commander damage at that point).

I've found that haste-providers like Urabrask the Hidden and card advantage such as Soul of the Harvest , Primordial Sage and Garruk's Companion basically let you win on one big turn. Temur Ascendancy obviously fills both roles.

It is important to note that a gradual and meticulously thought out curve is really important. I play a lot of ramp from 1-4 cmc .Birds of Paradise , the on-color myrs (because hey, they get free really fast), Sakura-Tribe Elder , Civic Wayfinder , Ondu Giant etc. are all amazing fixers. 4-6 drop is generally utility stuff (aforementioned draw/haste cards as well as format staples like Acidic Slime , Solemn Simulacrum , any Clone effects etc.) and then your beastly finishers (anything you freaking want).

NorthernRaven My thoughts exactly!

I've not played much EDH, Chief :-/

Are there different builds, say Aggro, Tempo, Combo, etc.?

Rattleclaw Mystic is also good.

Very true, but if you want to have any deception in your morph cards you'd need more. That being said, you can still play him as a morph for free and then unmorph at positive mana and fixing for the turn.

The primary point of morph is utility, not deception. While it's true that the card can be cast face-down and therefore be unknown to opponents, you're not about to play a ton of morph cards just to keep your opponent guessing.

Here's my Animar deck that needs to be updated to include Temur Ascendancy : MagicalHacker - Animar, Soul of Elements.

Which is why I qualified my post with "if you want" and "that being said". I didn't at all insist on adding extraneous morphs . . . just pointed out that you wouldn't be bluffing anybody in your playgroup after the first few times.

And with that being said, I'd still be tempted to put a Willbender in there . . . maybe just the one time.
