MODERN HORIZONS 2 UPDATE —June 18, 2021
Very similar to Ryusei, the Falling Star with the added effect of Lifelink but having the pay a cumulative upkeep cost. General, with such specific colors, its gonna be very hard to cast this guy and usually when this effect goes off, its because of a board wipe rather than him dying individually. Maybe the upkeep cost and by not paying is an easy to have this effect happen but I would rather just have a one sided board wipe thats cheaper.
Not enough instant or sorceries in the deck to cheat out quickly in which case it's just a big, dumb dragon.
Could be good in a budget type of deck if you're needing the land destruction ability but I'm perfectly okay with not needing this dragon at the moment.
Scion of Draco > Beledros Witherbloom
Beledros life payment ended up being more difficult to manage and the fact that there's a lot of non land ramp in the deck to where sometimes you aren't even untapping a lot of lands. Scion with this deck is usually a 1 mana dragon and gives multiple keywords to all the other dragons. He will also be a "combo" card in the deck set with the new 5 color Dragon that got spoiled so be on the lookout for that.
Helping the mana slightly while also adding a Triome for more types for Scion of Draco.
Niemandswasser Outside of the reanimation, the body and ability isn't really super relevant. I've never been a huge fan plus the mana requirements is a little more difficult than a normal dragon. Sarkhan has been perfectly fine. Passive acts like a Ghostly Prison if you're able to set up multiple dragons that protect you. Plus, Dragonlord Silumgar instantly kills all the attackers with deathtouch.

Is there anyway you could add non-dragons to the Notable Exclusions section? Things like Dragonspeaker Shaman and other supporting cards.

Hey there, I try running a similar deck, but my meta is very sac and target removal heavy. Any advise?

Hekebolas, Steely Resolve and Tamiyo, Collector of Tales may help.

Hekebolas Either run some of the cheaper dragons that give some etb value, have more permanents that provide protection for your creatures like Monastery Siege or Steely Resolve or have you deck be way more focused on recursion to rebuy/bring back Dragons from your graveyard.

I just saw the new spoiler for Tiamat, and I know it is not out yet, but damn, can this be a possible Ur-Dragon replacement?

Niemandswasser It technically could be. Do I plan to? Nope. The cost reduction across all Dragons is way better in my opinion than searching up dragons that you can only cast once a turn. I know the Morophon lines make you pop off if you untap but doesn't seem exciting and like you'll do the same thing everygame. Definitely going in the 99 of my deck permanently for sure.

And the new Scion of Draco ? What a lovely Dragon. I'm curious if you'll include it in your deck. Looking ahead, maybe Scion of Draco could be part of a big mess with Tiamat , Morophon, the Boundless , The Ur-Dragon and the Elder Dragons, making the entire field afraid of dragons.

Man I love seeing Dragon Decks like these in any TCG game, but Magic especially. Having a 5 color dragon deck since early Tarkir myself, then upgraded once the 2017 precons came out, I always take a little look at your logic behind incorporations of different cards. With the new Modern Horizons set coming out, have you taken any thought to some of the revealed dragons? I know the new elder dragon, Piru, the Volatile , is simply a little bit improved Ryusei, however Tiamat , Scion of Draco , and even the new land in MH2, Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth , all seem like worthy additions.

So nice to see the updates! I have a similar version to this deck. I have two questions: Bladewing the Risen , isn't he such good value (2 dragons + the pump) not to include?
And Sarkhan the Masterless feels a bit clunky in the deck, have you had much success with him?
In any case, this is such a fun primer to follow! 10/10
