FNM 2-0-2 —Dec. 2, 2015

I was actually really pleased with how the deck performed this week.

0-2 Control and Mill

Unfortunately my first game was against the deck I hate most in my local meta, and don't ever expect to beat. It's the one made by the shop owner. Extreme control with Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger as an alternate mill Win Con. Ugin, the Spirit Dragon also makes an appearance.

Unfortunately I wasn't sure he still had Ulamog in until the second game, so I didn't side in Deflecting Palm. It probably would have made little difference.

1-2 Abzan Beatdown

I lost the first game, since my Opponent's deck was very fast. She had stuff coming out like Warden of the First Tree and Managorger Hydra and kept backing them up with stuff like Titanic Growth, Become Immense, and Utter End.

Game 2 was easily mine. I got all my cards out in the order I like and overwhelmed her. Expedition Envoy followed by Kor Bladewhirl and Firemantle Mage with Butcher of the Horde to finish things off.

Unfortunately I had an awful draw in Game 3 which saw me get hardly any Creatures in hand. I was able to hold her off for a while, and got her down to 4 life, but I didn't have anything in hand that could block or finish her off.

2-0 Green Ramp

My Opponent kept producing mana and bringing out Creatures but I was able to get a lot of Allies on the field early, including three Zulaport Cutthroat. Got him into a position where he would lose if he killed them and lose if he didn't.

In the second game I had Drana, Liberator of Malakir and Butcher of the Horde on the field and once they started hitting they didn't stop. He had no fliers out, so that was the end of that.

2-1 UG Enchanment

He had a supremely lucky draw in the first game which saw him get three Cloudform out in short order. Since they had Hexproof and Flying, and I wasn't able to get a flier out until turn 4, I got cut down quickly.

Next go I got a textbook draw again, and he only got one Cloudform and not much else. I think he had a really bad draw, which isn't fun.

The final game I won because he had pinned down my Butcher of the Horde, with Claustrophobia and my Chasm Guide with a Singing Bell Strike, but I got up to six mana and was able to pay for Chasm Guide to hit. I had enough power with that and some other Allies to finish him off.

This isn't the world's best deck by any means, but I am now happy with how it is performing. I feel that it has a real chance to win in my local meta, and I have beaten my hubby's Control deck quite a few times in practice.

It is still as fun as hell to pilot, which is also a good thing.

Your deck looks great. I've also built an Ally deck, but for some reason I can't link it. It's called rAlly deck. I'd love to know what you think.

One question; How come you don't use Ally Encampment in your manabase? You're only running 12 non-creature spells so it should be solid for your allies, right?

PG7m I just finished commenting on your deck. How's that for kismet?

I started off with four copies of Ally Encampment and found that, while they were great for letting me play all my Allies on time, they were getting in the way of me casting equally useful cards that weren't Allies, such as Mardu Ascendancy, Crackling Doom and, most importantly, Butcher of the Horde.
