5-4 at TCGPlayer 5K Orlando (72nd of 331 players) —March 20, 2013
I took the Legion for a spin at the Orlando 5K, here's how it went!
Match 1: UWR Flash, W 2-0
Both games were very close. Game two was especially close, as I won at 2 life when he was at 3. I'm surprised that I keep managing to win this matchup despite how bad it seems for me.
Match 2: Esper Spirits, W 2-1
I win game one too quickly to know what he's playing, so I sideboard in for Esper Control. Instead, my Skullcracks are rendered useless as he bashes me over the head with an army of spirits. Game three is much better for me once I put my Nearheath Pilgrims back in.
Match 3: Jund Aggro, L 0-2
I played against Nicholas Werner, the person who ended up making the finals of the event. Burning-Tree Emissary into Mogg Flunkies is actually an awesome play, one that completely blows me out before I can ever get going. No Nearheath Pilgrims really hurt me here.
Match 4: Naya Humans, W 2-1
If I got a Nearheath Pilgrim out, I won, and if I didn't I lost. Thankfully, I got one out in two games.
Match 5: Naya Humans, W 2-1
Same story. Nearheath Pilgrim + Silverblade Paladin + Rally the Peasants puts aggro to sleep fast.
Match 6: Prime Speaker Bant, L 1-2
I won game one with a moderately fast hand. He managed to stabilize a little but I was able to end it before he could come back. I got crushed by massive creatures in the next two games, Angel of Serenity being the worst of them.
Match 7: Esper Control, W 2-1
I lost game one after getting mana screwed. I got him to 1 life quickly in game two, where he stayed for a long time until I drew the Skullcrack after throwing creature after creature at him to empty his hand. Game three was very fast for me.
Match 8: Jund Aggro, L 1-2
I lost game one, got out a Nearheath Pilgrim in game two (so I won), and made an atrocious misplay in game three that cost me the game and the match.
Match 9: Lucky Charms, L 0-2
This is the UWR Flash deck centered around Boros Reckoner, using him with Azorius Charm/Moment of Heroism and Boros Charm to gain infinite life and Blasphemous Act to finish any opponent at 13 or less life. This deck absolutely stomps aggro, which it did to me.
Overall, The Sunfist Brigade performed well, although I still lament my poor draws and my round 8 misplay that kept me from having a shot at top 32 or higher. The deck is still quite potent, though perhaps not as much so as Naya or Jund Aggro. I still think that this Boros and Mono-green Aggro are perhaps the next best aggressive decks after those two, and would highly advocate this list for any local tournaments, especially FNMs.
Great to hear such good results panik! Thanks for taking the deck for a spin :)

So I also went to my first FNM with this deck. Placed ninth out of 39 people. But also there is 5 weeks of qualifying for a $1,000 in my city. So the competition is pretty difficult these few weeks. But it played very consistently and Most the the matches I lost were against aggro. Dunno why but they seemed to out aggro me. The cards I had the most problems with were Stromkirk Noble. Since I can't block with my humans and by the time I do get a Hellrider out or something hes already too big.

9th... D:
The worst placing to get! Missing top 8 that closely isn't cool :(
Naya Humans is usually problematic because they get more creatures out faster. RDW shouldn't be as bad if you have Blind Obedience out and can get a Nearheath Pilgrim to stick. And as always, a Boros Reckoner pretty much shuts both of those down.

I'd Drop The Rally The Peasants in favor of Gather The Townsfolk. It'll get your Batallion Online Quicker. I'd also drop Ajani Caller of the Pride for a Fourth Lightning Mauler to make sure the haste Gets there.
For your Sideboard. I'd Drop down 1 Thalia, Guardian of Thraben, and put in 1x Aurelia's Fury for Boardwipe/Striaght Burn.

Gather the Townsfolk is woefully weak in a format without anthem effects. I'm not a Battalion deck in the first place, and I don't have any trouble getting it online anyway. Also, I have a personal affinity for Rally the Peasants. It has single-handedly won me several games I would have normally lost without it. That 30 cent card has probably earned me over $80 in the course of its use.
Ajani, Caller of the Pride is much more powerful than a Lightning Mauler and helps win the midrange matchup (which Lightning Mauler does not contribute to in any meaningful way).
Aurelia's Fury is not for an aggro deck. It is superior in a deck where mana flows like milk and honey to generate maximum effect, such as in Naya Midrange.

Yea if I would have won one of my matches 2-0 instead of 2-1 I would have been in top 8 easily. And I'm thinking about taking out the planeswalkers. I am running Ajani and Gideon. Gideon just becuase people blindly attack him thinking he is going to do something. Plus Ajain's -3 (double strike and flying) on a 8/8 Gideon is pretty much game over. Anyway once this $1,000 tourny is done I should be winning some tournaments with this deck easily.

I'm constructing a separate deck based on Craig Wescoe's Boros Champions deck that focuses on using Ajani and Gideon to have a powerful midgame. Gideon unfortunately doesn't belong in this deck (which I learned firsthand at the Daytona tournament) because he doesn't do enough on the turn he comes in.

Went to my second tournament today and the deck went undefeated. I made a couple of changes due to not having a 4th Silverblade Paladin took out Ajani for a 4th Reckoner and substitued the Silverblade Paladdin with a 3rd Blind obedience (which ended to be a great decision) again thanks a lot for helping me with my first steps in the MTG.

So I believed I solved my problem of the unblockable Stromkirk Noble. I put in two Legion Loyalist might switch them out for my own nobles. But I don't know what else to take out to make it a 3 of. Right now its only a 2 of. But the problem is solved for me earlier than hellrider. Which is turn 4 and the noble would be atleast a 3/3 by then.

In a red/white humans deck I'd consider Kessig Malcontents from the old set. He might end up burning for a fair amount on entry.
Looks like a solid deck though, and I stand behind you on making themed decks, and I also stand behind you that, theme or no theme, if it's Red+White Boros Reckoner is just too powerful to ignore.
+1 from me!

Especially with Nearheath Pilgrim and Charm? The Infinite Life Combo is at its work!!! May I ask how many times you have pulled it off?

Only twice so far. It's less common now that I removed Searing Spear.

Kessig malcontents. Nuff said. This is pretty solid. Me personally I'd pop out frontline for malcontents and id also make room for cloudshift or resto angel. Etb burn flash retrigger. GG. Especially uncounterable with cavern? Boss.

How do you put the picture in your description? Very nice deck by the way, +1.
