Oooh Ooooh my turn! Well, lets see. Lots of mana: Biomass Mutation WHEE attack for 150 with trample. That concludes our next 10 matches. GG

Hey there, you had asked that I link up the deck I had mentioned we had made that had the Karametra's Acolyte / Staff of Domination combo in it. It is called Defender Devotion (Staff Combo) Modern.

As you can see, it is pretty different. It is much more of a "Combo" and "Theme" deck that focuses solely on the combo using either Karametra's Acolyte , Axebane Guardian or Overgrown Battlement ...it doesn't have multiple win-cons, etc. It's more of a fun-based Theme deck. It can win on turn 4 and is pretty consistant, but I wouldn't call it "Tier 1" by any means :) Anywho, there it is. Your deck is looking GREAT! The changes have made it even better!

Hey, thanks for showing me! It definitely does play differently. I love how the defender works with it! That's a combo with the Staff that I almost totally forgot about.

It looks like it would be fun! I playtested it and I can see the consistency with the combo.

Thanks, by the way! I ended up dropping a Leatherback Baloth in place of another Ooze. Threw in the ol' Caller of Beasts as well. I'm working on 2 alternate versions of this deck that are also centred around comboing - trying my best to find a winning formula for this combo.

I can't help but wonder if there's a way to put the staff in a Tier 1 deck. What do you think?

seems like a pretty ideal hand to me lol

Good call, RDW. It's a ideal hand in a way; all the combo pieces are there and it can go off at turn 4. However, what I meant was that there's other ways for it to happen. I.E Predator Ooze in place of the Baloth, or dropping the combo in a different order.

It can't blow up before turn 4, even with a perfect draw. The first version I had included some more manaramp so it was possible, but it left it vulnerable outside of the combo.

This deck very much reminds me of my deck, Battle Elves, With a Side of Infinity

I found that, when played against eachother, I was able to infinite combo before you could, which was turn 4. (I won the diceroll and went first)

I playtested it myself back when I upvoted it - you had me 2-1 in the first round. This irked me a little bit, so I did some tweaking with what I had in the sideboard - specifically Prey Upon for my early game fatties and Trinisphere to slow you down a bit. I took out the Fog and Deadly Recluse . I ended up going 2-1, so I settled with it there.

I'm gonna do some playtesting tonight with it and see how it fares vs the sideboard updated version of the deck - to be fair, I obviously wouldn't have the chance to do that in game 1 in a competitive environment - I just want to see if it can hold up to what I expect it to do.

I wish we could play this one on paper vs each other! It's a great deck. I wanted to make an elves centred one and also have an Intruder Alarm combo going with Presence of Gond - I'm playtesting some ideas for that one right now. :)

I'd love a good match against this deck, it's not quite the same when you're playing as both decks. One thing I've learned about my elf deck is that it out-aggro's aggro and out ramp's ramp, however if you throw in a lot of removal or cheap burn and I'm down for the count. I really like your deck though, +1

That'd be a good alternate win-con, RandomRaven7. This one will almost always win before the Pinnacle has a chance to blow up. I think it'd be good in a more combo oriented build. :)

I have a mono-green deck, too: Legit Mono-Green Burn (Is That Even Possible?). You should check it out.

How Dose This Combo Work?

First have Karametra's Acolyte on board with 5 devotion. Then get staff of domination out. Next, tap acolyte to produce 5 mana. Then use three of it to use staffs untap ability on acolyte. After, use 1 more to untap the staff. You have now netted 1 extra mana. Repeat process to play whatever card you want, namely mistcutter hydra. I think Primordial Hydra is frankly a better card but that's up to whoever builds the deck
