I ended up going 2-2 with the Young Pyromancer build of the deck. It was a small group (20) and I probably finished top 8 but didn't stick around to find out. Yesterday I went through the deck to change it up and found out I was only playing 18 lands Friday which explained a lot. I noticed when shuffling that my card count seemed off but I figured I had a couple extra spells or creatures and didn't take the time to check it.

Match 1
Green Devotion 2-0
I was able to apply early pressure both games and used Turn / Burn and Chained to the Rocks effectively to finish midgame.
-
Match 2
Blue Devotion 1-2
Took game 1 but got mana screwed the next 2. This is my decks toughest match up.
-
Match 3
Blue Devotion 1-2
Opponents 2 & 3 were friends and were playing the same deck essentially other than a couple cards. I took game 1 again by Turning a Master of Waves and pinging it with Chandra, Pyromaster. Games 2 & 3 I got mana screwed again. He was able to resolve a Master with 11 devotion while I only had 2 lands 3rd game... scoop.

Match 4
Opponent dropped
2nd week in row this has happened to me. Opened a Thassa, God of the Sea from the prize booster. The two players I lost to ended up playing for 1st and 3rd.
Chances are I wont get to play again until the SCG IQ on 12/7 to test my changes.

Does anyone have any thoughts on Epic Experiment ? With Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx I could pop it off for 8-10 mana and do some serious damage. It'd be a one of and could be an alternate wincon.

I love the deck and I'm a big fan of red, but I'm just wondering, why did you pick Shock over Magma Jet ? Seeing as how it's only 1 more colourless mana, it seems like the scry would be worth it.

Casting turn and burn together counts as casting one spell, so it will not trigger the pyromancer twice!

Shock is especially helpful when on the draw or when casting multiple spells to abuse Young Pyromancer + Purphoros, God of the Forge for large amounts of damage. Turn 1 it allows me to hit Elvish Mystic before it can be used or can get rid of Soldier of the Pantheon or a Rakdos Cackler . Or at the end of their 2nd turn killing their Scavenging Ooze , Pack Rat , Lotleth Troll , or Tidebinder Mage is way more valuable than waiting an extra turn and scrying 2 when I'd rather be dropping a Young Pyromancer . Magma Jet hasn't done a good job clearing early creatures, 2 damage to the face is not enough for 2 mana, and it's too slow for this deck.

@nielsbass True, I just read over the rulings on Gatherer. Thanks for the heads up.

Nivmagus Elemental can't counter their counters though...

He doesn't literally counter them... If the opponent counters a burn spell of mine I can exile the spell and add 2 +1/1 counters to Nivmagus Elemental and in effect counter their counter by turning my spell into counters and their's fizzling. It still triggers Young Pyromancer and helps keep the pressure on.

Moved Barrage of Expendables from the sideboard to maybe to get down to 15. I really like what it did for the deck so the move might not be permanent.
