Commander 2015 is here! —Nov. 16, 2015
After the Commander 2015 decklists came out, I looked through them to see if I could find any interesting cards that might be worth adding to Mikaeus.
Unfortunately, the changes I wanted to make couldn't be done straight away, as the prices of the cards had yet to settle down. None of them were budget enough!
Now it's gone a few days and while there are still cards I can't add, I'm going to add the list of "interesting" cards under consideration.
Reprints that will drop in price and might become budget enough to re-add:
Coldsteel Heart: A card I have long wanted to add but has been at $2.5! Maybe it will become budget enough now, although I doubt it.
Shriekmaw: An amazing card, had to take it out due to it becoming too expensive. Hopefully this will get the price down again.
New considerations:
Thought Vessel: A new manarock! Will probably be cheap due to how many of the decks it was printed in! Would be fun to try out! Currently too expensive, and currently the only new card I might want to add. Commander 2015 is disappointing isn't it?
Barter in Blood: In many situations, this is a boardwipe. Or a devastating tempo loss for your opponents. For $0.03 that is amazing!
** Cards already in the deck that got reprinted (Hurrah for cheaper cards!): **
Worn Powerstone, Diabolic Servitude, Fallen Ideal, Phyrexian Reclamation, Burnished Hart, Wayfarer's Bauble
Its really hard to make a good budget deck in multi colors. The land base you need to make it good ends up costing too much money.

boddie & Ayle:Yup, unfortunately good lands are the most expensive part of MtG.You can still get a solid 3 color manabase for no money at all though. I can probably piece together a manabase for even a 5 color deck for extremely little. It would however have one of the following drawbacks: It would cost a lot of life to keep the tempo up, it would be slow (etb tapped), or unreliable. I'd personally go for the lifecost route if I were aiming for a competetive deck, entering tapped is simply too slow.
SerOrion: Both of those are awesome cards, and used to be in the deck. I took them out to make room for draw and tutors, since I didn't need as many combo pieces as I first had.
Anyways, the original reason for my post: WHY am I not running Snuff Out? How has this card escaped my notice for so long? I knew it existed but never considered it. 4 life, destroy a nonblack creature, instant speed, costs 0 mana, SEVEN CENTS.

Damn, a full hour of revisions and I have managed to pull down the price of the deck by $2 on the TCG checkout list to the right.
Looked through all the editions and changed the card art in the decklist to be from the cheapest one! Now if only I could make the swamps cheaper...

I fee like it's a bit cheaty that the deck is only this cheap due to not including Mikaeus in the calculations, but otherwise great,I'll end up making it for a 1 on 1 commander deck

Warloean: You caught me, however, that is the decks TCG MID value, and doesn't really reflect the decks price. So it functions as a fine way to not get my deck judged at first glance.
Feel free to do the math on TCG LOW pricing (remember to use the cheapest print of each card) and you will see the deck is below $20 with Mikaeus included, at least it was when I last did a check :)
Also, in a 1v1 version I recommend adding all the hand disruption you can.

It isn't in your list of sac outlets in the combo list. Didn't read entire deck list I guess.

I purchased the deck for 14 dollars. came out to 23 after i purchased all the new full art lands but that's still very fair for a deck that clearly isn't tier 1 but still competitive enough to vs any tier 2 commanders.

Some removal ideas that should be cheap from BFZ Complete Disregard, Bone Splinters, Titan's Presence also Gruesome Slaughter is another cheap game win the moment it resolves if you have a sac outlet and mikaeous out on the field. mike and slaughter.

redchance: Unfortunately, Gruesome Slaughter would require my creatures to have haste, and would only work with the colorless ones. My problems with most of the removal from the new set is that it is either too situational, too mana intensive, or requires additional conditions like Titan's Presence and Bone Splinters.
There is plenty of good removal I don't run that I would add before and of those cards, like Doom Blade.
And yes, this deck can't beat Tier 1 competetive decks like Scion Hermit Druid, Karador Boonweaver combo, Stax decks etc, but even in most competetive metas this deck will be able to win frequently. In casual metas this deck will simply crush.

alright fair enough how about mana Mystifying Maze my particular meta goes up against Zur the enchanter so this land is useful in this setup but not in everybody's case.
November 10, 2015 midnight
redchance: Yeah, Mystifying Maze can be a great budget land. Although it's still $0.5 which is too much for me!

I HAVE TO BUILD THIS! My meta is about combo Brago, Prosh, and other decks that just go off in a heartbeat. Beating them with this is gonna be awesome. THANK YOU!
