Updated Primer to Include Breach Combos —Jan. 22, 2020

With the release of Underworld Breach, we now have another easy addition to this deck. It is a powerful mid-game grind machine. It also has the added bonus of enabling us to win the game when paired with other cards we already run in the deck.

I have two suggestions first one, Banefire might a be good win con. Second, why don’t you use Trinket Mage to find sensei instead of Spellseeker

Have you also considered Jace, Wielder of Mysteries as alt win?

Rocko822 Thank you so much for checking out my list and offering a suggestion! Banefire is a fun but card but it is not needed in this deck. It generally speaking, would be a dead draw since it seems its main purpose would be to act as a kill card. Furthermore, the card is only able to target one thing, so it cannot even kill all your opponents. All to say, the card is not very good in a competitive meta.

To your second suggestion, The reason Spellseeker is better than trinket mage is because of several reasons. The first and most important reason is that Spellseeker allows us to win at instant speed. The second reason, although not as important, is that once you already have Sensei's Divining Top in your hand and you draw a Spellseeker you can grab a counter spell to protect your combo, find a spell to remove something that is stopping you from winning, or it can help tutor for another tutor to get the card you need to win. In other words, it is a much better draw than Trinket Mage .

Jace, Wielder of Mysteries is a good card but not needed for this deck. The list already has several other alternate win conditions and doesn't need anymore as of right now.

What do you think of Impact Tremors over Goblin Bombardment

Chucknorris13: The reason Goblin Bombardment is strictly better is because it is useful outside of the combo. You can use Goblin Bombardment to machine gun down creatures you don't like. Most of the time I use the card to kill mana dorks or things like Tymna the Weaver or Dark Confidant .

What about Niv-Mizzet, Parun ?

ScionsStillLive: It is simply just not as good as Elsha of the Infinite and Spellseeker .

Just curious, but is there a reason that this deck runs snow covered lands? I don't know if i am missing something or if there is no good reason for it.

EricC7, not really. It’s just a preference.

Would Niv-Mizzet, Parun + Tandem Lookout as a Divergent target lower the card quality too much?

Running Niv + Lookout would also allow you to run a Glint-Horn Buccaneer for increased consistency, because any two of the the three cards can combo off.
