NEW GATES!! —June 11, 2024

Ok first things first, Fable of the Mirror-Breaker  Flip was cut from the list since it is 1) realistically too good for this deck, and 2) The Huntsman's Redemption is surprisingly versatile, and reasonably does the same category of things as Fable.

Now, MH3 exists, and the new changelingesque deck is born. We have received the following relevant cards:

Talon Gates of Madara

Planar Nexus

Sage of the Maze

Wonderscape Sage

The two new gates are pretty cool, especially Talon Gates of Madara; it is removal and another gate, so it is an auto include, will likely replace Plaza of Harmony . Planar Nexus is unfortunately just a worse Heap Gate in this list, so it wont make the cut.

Sage of the Maze seems too good to be true: a mana dork and a new wincon to turn gates into dudes! Amazing, I must add it. Might repalce Nine-Fingers Keene, but not 100% sure.

Lastly, Wonderscape Sage. This one seems not so great, but in this deck, is a free draw on every bounce of a land, given the high gate density. This one is a long shot addition, and will likely not happen, but who knows. I guess I will, but this list has a mind of its own.

There are also 2 new cards in the sideboard, The Day of the Doctor and Yenna, Redtooth Regent. The saga is functional card advantage that finds legends and shrines, and Yenna creates duplicates of all sagas and shrines. The Doctor who card may not make the cut due to it being universes beyond, it doesnt seem fitting for this list. Yenna might not replace anything, and be only goodstuff. They are still on the adding list, for now.

Any consideration to untap effects like Amulet of Vigor and Archelos, Lagoon Mystic?

Shockingly, the deck works! It is VERY slow, but does what it is supposed to do. Ironically, when i dont draw gates, the deck falters. Given this, I may consider removing non gate utility lands to help playability. Otherwise, it plays as either a shrine list or a saga list depending on early game draws, and can win after pivoting late game to the other strategy.

I will still consider splitting this into a separate saga list and separate shrine/legendary list, but thats for another day.

Interestingly, Jegantha, the Wellspring is usally not great. Not sure what that means for the list.

poldrag, Gond Gate serves the untap effect, and as you predicted, its great to have. If i can fit more in I will try and do so.

Also Urza's Saga Kinda sucks in this list, so it may get cut for either ramp, or a future gate.

New cards to consider: Historian's Boon, seems really good with saga manipulation and the sheer number of enchantments. The Phasing of Zhalfir, would require me to lose Jegantha, the Wellspring as companion, but is such a strong piece of removal with saga manipulation that it could be worth it.

Urza's Saga could be cut for either of the previous cards or potentially a card that helps my mana, like Courser of Kruphix, Dryad of the Ilysian Grove, Oracle of Mul Daya, Pir's Whim, Tempt with Discovery, etc.
