Props to CynicalCzech - http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/ug-pauper-merfolk/#c3267911
He made the awesome skeleton of this list.
So what am I trying to do here? While my Czech Friend created a very Aggro based variant with small creatures and low interaction. I tried to dive a bit at a slower pace and recruit some slower but more powerful members to the clan. It be said though that I have not tested this in paper yet nor have I played the slightly more aggressive deck. With that said I am very positive that we can makes this work and make our way up the ranks and tiers. I am also very sure, that you could play Millfolk in Pauper but that's for an other Day.
So in my opinion the core of this deck is made out of: Stonybrook Banneret and Arctic Merfolk. The Banneret helps a lot with our pretty high curve. While the Arctic creates a lot of fun combos and shenanigans.
My Dream:
Turn 1: Island into PonderTurn 2: Forest into Stonybrook BanneretTurn 3: Forest into Jade Bearer onto Banneret into Arctic Merfolk into Jade Bearer
Pretty sweet and strong if you ask me. But ofc that's only one of the things this deck can.
One of the strongest additions to Ixalan is by far Watertrap Weaver. This Card is the definition of Tempo. It enables evasion in form of interaction. I love it! It's even better for just 2 mana.
One of the neatest creatures in this deck is Gaea's Skyfolk. If you pump it in the skies it provides a nice clock on our opponent.
For more evasion we have Streambed Aquitects it also provides a nice body for it's cost. Also it can be used as disruption. If you tap it in your opponents upkeep you may even manascrew him to some degree. Must suck not being able to play your spells. After you ran trough 4 Counterspell. If we ever run out of cards our Ponder, Scroll Thief and Spreading Seas help us.
Anyways. Please throw in your 2 Cents.
Cheers
