I would totally run moxes in here, not a big fan of lotus though, its really only borked when you have a bunch of them.

Looks about as expensive as mine A Dragon by any other name (and yes mine is real) I run mine more clone oriented with things like Rite of Replication and Progenitor Mimic but +1 all the same feel free to check out mine (and +1 ifin you like it)

nayrash5 says... #6

Thanks for the suggestions, I can't add mimic because he's off theme, but Rite could be an interesting idea, the issue is finding out what to cut for it.

Kozelek says... #7

Rite of replication works best on a Scourge of Valkas to deal 180 damage (minimum) for 11 mana ( to activate scion and for the kicked rite) and the math on this gets nutty quick assuming scion is your only dragon on the field and you turn him into a scourge of valkas then rite of replication its 5x6x6 (5 dragons ETB x 6 scourges triggering x 6 dragons in play, if you have more dragons out that last number goes up with every dragon out)

Kozelek says... #9

Nicol Bolas fills that spot better

February 13, 2015 9:30 a.m.

nayrash5 says... #10

Lol, Koz saying what I was going to, Crosis is worse than Bolas in almost every way. Thank you for the suggestion though.

February 13, 2015 5:06 p.m.

MoxLotus says... #11

But it costs 2 mana of each grixis color, whereas Crosis costs only one of each color. And it's 2 mana cheaper. And you don't have to pay UBR during each of you upkeeps! And... well, whatever.

February 14, 2015 9:27 a.m.

Kozelek says... #12

True but your not going to want to cast him just dig him out with scion

Lol I've had the ABUR lands (2/3 of the price tag of my deck) for over 12 years and spent $45 at most for each (I got my Plateau for $6 15 years ago) now I don't know when where or how much nayrash5 spent on his

I've been piecing this deck together for years, I spent entire paychecks on just one dual, Looking at you Underground Sea but I've been playing since Conflux, so I have a few years of experience under my belt.

Brainstorm is amazing in this deck.

U draw three cards then shuffle two dragons from your hand (where you don't want them) into your library (where you do want them)

in this deck it can be better then Ancestral Recall!

plus, if you don't have one they are easy to get a hold of.

Rise of the Dark Realms is also a power house in your deck. after 7 or 8 turns of people killing each others creatures casting one of these is a game ender.

Take a look at my Scion deck, How to Train Ur-Dragon, for other ideas, not that this deck needs much help. it is very good!

+1

oh, and Bant Charm is also very useful.

Wow, thanks for all the suggestions guys, This is going to be a long comment from me.

I had Utvara Hellkite for a while, But he was always a little disappointing when he only ever made one extra dragon, and whenever he was cast, he was often removed before he did anything.

Dragon Broodmother is ok, but at 6 mana, a 4/4 that makes tokens isn't really helpful, and most of the time, I don't actually cast the dragons, I fetch them with Scion.

Dragonspeaker Shaman, Kaalia, and Outcast are all cards that would be amazing in this deck, but I'm only allowing dragon creatures to be played so they are out.

Urza's Incubator is a pretty good effect for the cost, And I think I will try and find a slot for that.

Scourge of Kher Ridges looks kinda interesting, but I'm not sure the effect is super great in here, I'll do some testing with him though.

Cryptic Gateway just seems like a bad Sneak Attack, and I have enough Tutoring and Draw Power that I can usually find attack when I need it.

I have never liked Gilded Lotus in any EDH deck I have ever played, and It feels kinda suboptimal here too, because I could drop Lotus for 5 mana, or I could summon Scion and begin winning the game.

I have a Full Art brainstorm that I was trying my damnedest to make work in here, but every time I cast it, it just felt kinda lackluster, I might try and fit it in again though.

Rise of the Dark Realms is interesting, but at 9 mana, I usually have won the game with Scion, or am about to win already. It might be worth it in here, so Ill give it some testing, but it feels kinda Redundant with Living Death

Bant Charm is a cool idea, Tucking Commanders is always powerful, and the other two options are quite good as well, I'll try testing it and see how I like it.

Again, thanks for the suggestions guys :D

I agree with everything you said there. Rise of the Dark Realms in my deck works so well, but I have a lot of ramp. by about turn 6 I have 9 mana.

also, Curiosity + Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind is a real kick in the balls. about 80 damage and draw a mess of cards.

The "star" dragons (blue, black, and white and the best IMO) punish people for killing your scion... or even better, if they know you are going to punish them it might prevent them from trying.

I would take out all of the Vorosh, the Hunter Teneb, the Harvester and friends: having an activation cost of 3 on top of scion's cost of 2 is simply too much. it means that you cannot do anything else that turn.

nayrash5 says... #23

Please pardon the length it took for me to reply to you, I kinda got sucked into something.

I think the 'Star Dragons' could be an interesting Include, but I need to find them first, I am looking for a Yosei for something else, so he will probably go in here. I don't really like Keiga, because she just draws the ire of the whole table. Kokopuffs will prob go in here when I find one as well.

Curiosity is an interesting idea, and if I'm cutting some dragons anyway, I may try testing it.

I think I will cut all the 3CMC activated ability dragons, except rith, because using Rith to generate even 5 tokens, and sacking them to Forays feels quite amazing. Also really combos with Gaea's Cradle.

Ever considered Might of the Nephilim? attack, then wait, then when they declare blockers, (or not, it doesn't really matter) cast Might of the Nephilim then turn your +10/+10 Scion into a dragon tyrant or skittles for the kill. "surprise!"

nayrash5 says... #25

Wow, that could be a fantastic way to kill someone... Never thought I would say those words like that XD Thanks for the Suggestion
