First Play, First Win —May 28, 2015

Tried the deck out IRL for the first time last night; won off the most godawfully long combo I could think of:

Tempt with Discovery out Boseiju, two more lands off opponents.

Take a chance with entwined tooth and nail, use boseiju, it goes off: Palinchron and Navigator Combo Pulled

Use Bosejiu (unttapped by palinchron for future reference), blue suns self for entire library, blue suns shuffles in

Boseiju, Skyscribing for one, Boseiju Blue Suns, wipe out opponent one. Blue Suns Shuffles in.

Boseiju, Prosperity for one, wipe out opponent 2, blue suns shuffles in

Realize only draw spell left is Minds Aglow, decide what to do

Opponent is tapped out, why not, Minds Aglow for 1. Boseiju in case there's any of the alternate mana cost counters in their hand, blue suns last opponent, win.

Archeomancer would allow you to reuse some of your good spells.

Eternal Witness lets you retrieve any good cards you have.

Psychosis Crawler can make your Prosperity effects deadly.

Vedalken Orrery is a better version of Vernal Equinox, assuming you want to keep the effect to yourself. Also it uses colorless, so can be entirely cast using Kruphix's mana.

Awakening is another great untap effect.

Arcane Denial is superior to Remand for EDH.

I'm just going to say, with all that mana put a hydra in there. And call it the moon presence or something (Also Karn if you want to mention New game+)

I had Lifeblood, but I found it wasn't really they necessary to what I want to be doing. Karn is a nice consideration, however.

Woah, such flavor in description. The deck themes don't seem to relate to Bloodborne so much though - I would imagine a blood themed deck to be Black

I think the themes relate fairly well, I give everyone resources and otherwise to benefit from their insight while they hunt each other while I'm off plotting my own Great One-y deeds, like making someone go insane with am infinite blue suns, or creating the One Reborn off a Weird Harvest/Genesis Wave

All that reaching aside, I don't think it necessarily needs black, for all the horrors there wasn't much directly stated evil, just moral ambiguity and experimenting on creatures the Great Ones see as lesser to further survival, which seems fairly in line with Simic to me.

Maybe more insignificant then lesser, but the point remains.

I'd recommend Vedalken Orrery as mentioned above for flash you can keep to yourself. Leyline of Anticipation also does this (maybe run both?) In a similar vein Mana Reflection doubles only your mana, if your budget will allow for a copy. Finally Mind Over Matter will allow you too infinite combo with Temple Bell and a legendary eldrazi (you already run Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre)-- not to mention Mind Over Matter is damn strong just on its own.

That's all for comments on cards. But going to play style, I feel I should say I'm not sure group hug is a good style-- unless you're sure you can do it the right way. As I see it (and I've played group-hug before), sure, people leave you alone at first. But once a player feels they have a good position established, I think they're likely to go after you very early, to the deny the advantage you give to other players. So I'd hedge your bets a bit by running stuff like Vedalken Orrery that gives an advantage to you instead of all opponents, and run some good control too (think you already do that though). Just my 2 cents on the matter.

I've been considering the orrery, but it generally turns out that the same advantage I'm giving them has me dug in enough to have combo protection and one combo ready to go, so I haven't worried about it too much yet. If I had to, I'd probably replace Vernal Equinox.

Aside from that, I'm working to up control elements and win cons, probably going with Venser, Shaper Savant first.

+1 just for the effort of making everything relative to Bloodborne :D
