Ojutai's Summons

Sorcery

Create a 2/2 blue Djinn Monk creature token with flying.

Rebound (If you cast this spell from your hand, exile this as this resolves. At the beginning of your next upkeep, you may cast this card from exile without paying the mana cost).

I have a host of questions because getting stuff answered in the pEDH community is tough.

  1. Given I only have two cards that are above three CMC (which itself could be a problem), should I cut some land in favor of more cantrippy draw (and/or rebound) spells? Or should I cut Ojutai's Summons for something else completely?

  2. Should I push more towards aggressive workarounds instead of counterspells? Perhaps more hexproof granting instants?

  3. Any other one or two drop spells that might be indispensable in this kind of deck? Anything that can make me draw is helpful.

  4. I replaced Divination with Secrets of the Golden City. Is the ascend ability worth the UU in the cost?

  5. Is there anything in my "Maybe" board that are actually insta-includes? What in my "Main" board should be dropped instantly?

Looks really cool! It might be pretty spicy to add some stuff like Feast or Famine, Geist Snatch, Grave Birthing, or Ojutai's Summons.

K00lDudE1, changed Disciple of the Ring for 2 Skywise Teachings. Not sure how effective the strategy might be, but I think it fits better in the deck and don't screw Rise from the Tides much.

Also thinking about Ojutai's Summons

Thing is - I really like the idea of splashing black or red, but my mana base would become unstable, and I would lose Engulf the Shore. Plus, I'm on a sort of budget, can't spend the mana to have the great/strong dual color lands, and a lot of dual lands enter the field tapped, which slows me down considerably...

Ive been thinking of 2 other cards instead, if I wish to stay monoblue. They can take the spot of Disciple of the Ring and not mess up my win-condition much. They are:

The first one is obviously more enduring, allowing good sinergy with my instants. However it also requires 2 mana and is an enchantment, which is not that good against aggro. The second falls more in line with my deck and sinergizes with Thing and Rise, but 2 2/2 monks for 5 seems just terribly expensive and likely not much of a win-con.

What do you think? Disciple of the Ring, Ojutai's Summons or Skywise Teachings for the 3 spots? Or a mix of two?
