Direct damage
kikeiros, 13 years ago
Nice support creatures
kikeiros, 13 years ago
Where did it came from?
kikeiros, 13 years ago
Venom in the blood
kikeiros, 13 years ago
Really think you are stronger?

I finally got the shrines, and got some better burn spells. One thing ive noticed after switching out fewer creatures, is that Brimstone Volley is much less able to trigger morbid, and might want to be switched out.
I like the addition of the faithless looting because it adds more ammo for the Grim Lavamancer and it helps move past mana issues
edit - after (a lot of) play testing, I decided to reduce Faithless Looting and Brimstone Volley down to 2 each, and bump Chandra's Phoenix up to 4 total. The main reason I did that because the phoenix was often a free card to discard, and basically turns faithless looting into draw 1/2 when you have them both in your hand.

Wurmcoil Engine and Batterskull have been increased and mana leaks have been added for more control. I have now decreased on alot of the little cards.

Some notes so I don't forget to change this deck: the Element Kraj combo is funny, but useless--there's no reason not to get Primeval Titan and Gaea's Cradle and Deserted Temple into play then hunt up Palinchron. Norwood Priestess (druid) should go in for Elvish Piper as soon as I can get one, and Bloom Tender might work better than the Quirion Elves. Also, Wood Sage is way better than Djin of Wishes, so the latter will fade from the maybeboard. Also thinking of swapping Lightning Greaves==> Sword of the Paruns because I can pass it across mana producing creatures in a single turn; Wood Sage==>Huntmaster because what is that Huntmaster doing anyway; Groundskeeper==>Pili-Pala and Spitting Image==>Element Kraj because Spitting Image has its own advantages plus, with Groundskeeper, I can funnel my infinite mana into copies of creatures in play, as well as draw my library by copying Coiling Oracle Next update--3/20/12 After more playtesting this deck is wicked fun, but the list here isn't exactly what ended up in the deck; I need to sit down and figure out where it's off. At any rate, I added the clone as a last resort to kill shrouded generals. Also, new infinite green mana combos after tweaking: Bloom Tender with Pemmin's Aura, Devoted Druid and Clone with Ezuri, Skill Borrower becoming an enchantment with Tempting Licid then borrowing from Devoted Druid.

Took 2nd out of 15 at Saturday's standard constructed. Particularly well against wolf run rampant and pod. The addition of Elspeth Tirel has made a profound difference.

Changes I'm considering: Sphere of the Suns to replace Rampant Growth. Elesh Norn to replace Unburial Rites. Maybe try to fit in Gideon Jura, probably for Mentor of the Meek or Daybreak Ranger. Maybe try to go for more Huntmaster of the Fells in the main deck. Also try to fit in Solemn Simulacrum and more ramp. Perhaps 1 Infernal Titan.Rework, finished

SO I took out the endless zombie combo, and grimgrin. This deck needed more straight up tempo boosters and swing power. Once again let me know what you guys think of it.
Update # 6

Was not happy with having Tezzeret in there. Didn't help that much with him out and it seemed to increase how often I was mana screwed. Needs to be faster, especially getting Metalcraft going. Put in more Inkmoths and added Signal Pests.

Some revisions...

Had a chance to stop by the local comic store in my hometown. Due to popular demand, no Delvers or Sulfur Falls were present, but I picked up a few cards worth swapping in by way of common singles and the Swift Justice and Relentless Dead Intro Packs. Eventually I'll get around to ordering the singles I need online; for the meanwhile, I'll see what I can cut together...

Pox - draw Dredge - win BUG plains walkers - win Storm - draw Mono red - loss (MD and SB changed to reflect these Wins and Losses.) Comments: after playing this deck I would really consider the aven mindcensor in an environment where you would expect to see lots of SFM. It wrecks any deck where SFM is forced to just look at the top 4 cards, but other than that I would prefer to have vendilion clique or more G.o.S.T.'s at CC = 3. Also Karakas is a must, for dealing with re-animator as well as any deck that plays any of the 'praetors'. If you can find space for it or think dredge will be present en-mass then also consider 1 bojuka bog main, with possibly 1 more SB. The deck takes its ideas from the 'Bant Blade, agro' meta .. http://magic.tcgplayer.com/db/deck.asp?deck_id=973340 I chose to look at his deck because his SB is so teck'ed out and fantastic for most of the field.

Revision to deck
hubbard.bret, 13 years ago
After play testing this deck and quite a bit of feedback, I have revised it to this current build. I was able to cut it down to 60 cards and it is playing better. If anybody has any suggestions for this deck please let me know and I will see what I can do. Thank you!

The idea is to get the Geist of Saint Traft out, and that being the game winner. Every creature in the deck is a spirit, so attaching the Call to the Kindred to anything will allow me to bring out the geist or the Drogskol Reaver if I'm lucky. The other spirits have draw utility or tapping to help the geist get through unblocked. The Drogskol Captain will help protect any creature I put the Call to the Kindred on. Mana leaks should maybe be mainboard. It seems like it's going to be slow, and the mana leaks would help even that out. Not sure though.
type II tournament

Played a T2 tourney on Saturday placed 3rd behind an Esper control deck and a U/B spirits deck. It was a decent outcome considering it was my first time running this deck in a sanctioned tourney. Ran through a R/B vamp deck 2-0 round 1. Beat a WRR round 2, 2-1. Lost round 3 to the esper Control that took 1st.
