Which Homebrew has a better ability to keep up with current modern top-8 decks?

Hey guys! I was wondering, which one of these home-brewed lists would better keep up with the current top-8 meta? I am looking to build one for tournament play. The deck i shall build will be determined by a majority-rules basis.

Here are the two lists that I am debating on making:

1) http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/all-the-proliferate/

2) http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/guide-is-a-beast/

Choose based on potential, not personal opinion! Thanks!

Goblins is just a more competitive deck, though I feel that it needs Shrapnel Blast.

Honestly the red deck strikes me as a far better deck (the other plays 5- 6- and even 7-drops with no ramp except for Everflowing Chalice, which in modern is almost equivalent to running blanks).

I agree on the Shrapnel Blast, I could also see going deeper in the goblin archetype by running something like Mogg War Marshal, adding running Goblin Grenade and aim to end the game in a symphony of throwing stuff at your opponent. Maybe cut Hero of Oxid Ridge since 4-drops are not really what you want in a modern aggro deck.

I would also probably add 4 Darksteel Citadel since you are not splashing anything and you can fling them at your enemy's face if necessary.

That said - if you want to go against the top-tier decks in modern both of those decks require a fairly large amount of work. I think the burn-like nature of the red deck allows you to get some "free wins" when your opponents stumble, so there's that, but I wouldn't bring either at a tournament honestly.

The red deck definitely. But I agree with a lot of the comments. The control-ish deck needs tuning to have a chance, and the red deck needs more explosiveness.

I have two 'rogue' modern decks that embrace my cheapness, and they both do quite well against the field. Not like they're favorites or anything (top-tier decks are top-tier for a reason), but they have play and can win lots of games.

I appreciate the advice on fine-tuning, but i have played this deck inside and out on Cockatrice as a prototype, and it never needed Shrapnel Blast. I do agree on cutting the hero though, seeing that I barely draw into him anyway. I may just add another copy of a much more functional card for the deck that could use one more copy of itself. Otherwise, I know the list as if all the cards were printed back in '93. All I need now is a suitable SB roster that can fit cards that deal with 2 top-tier decks for one card, or more if possible. Was thinking about 2 Impact Tremors as a start.

Red deck SB thoughts:

Dragon's Claw - because top-tier burn will be too fast to beat
Torpor Orb - doesn't impact you at all - hurts Twin, Soul Sisters, Amulet
Smash to Smithereens - versatile artifact hate w/bonus
Skullcrack - more anti-lifegain
Blood Moon - punish greedy manabases
Guttural Response - wow, will that Cryptic Command guy be surprised! lol
(Graveyard hate) - pick your flavor here, but you definitely want some
