Thoughts on Inalla, Archmage Ritualist?

Commander Deck Help forum

I wanted to see what others thought about the legendary creature to lead the new Commander 2017 Wizards deck, Inalla, Archmage Ritualist? For those who havent seen yet.

At first I was super excited! It's in my favorite color combo, and looked very fun and unique. I had hoped to make a tap deck or ETB deck. However, upon further inspection of what is available for that, I am starting to feel like shes really either infinite combos galore, or just a casual/semi-competitive. The second ability isn't super great, and the ETB wizards aren't very strong, though it would provide a lot of value with something like Trinket Mage.

What does everyone else think? Does she excite you, or just seem meh as I'm starting to feel?

I think she makes a lot of the magus stronger. Magus of the Wheel, Magus of the Will, Magus of the Jar, even Magus of the Mirror could be fun. Not sure how competitive the deck will be but sure looks fun. The deck might be a bit mana hungry though.

Inalla I think can be extremely powerful. Possibly even competitive though being tribal specific can hurt competitiveness. That eminence is retarded, you never need to play her to get the most out of her. It could take a little while to sort through all the possible wizards but if you really are interested in her just open up the gatherer advanced search and sort for wizards that are not green or white. I'm betting most decks made with her will go infinite but most infinite is easily avoided by taking out 1 or 2 pieces and doesn't hurt the deck too much most the time.

I'm not sure if she's really as overpowered as everyone is hyping her up to be, but she is still a great value commander. There hasn't really been a good Grixis good stuff commander, and Inalla, suprisingly, isn't as build-around as Jeleva or Nekusar. There is a lot of incidental wizardry in those colors.

I'm really exited to build a wizard brew with her. Have to add stuff like Diviner's Wand, Inspired Sprite and Docent of Perfection  Flip for that wizard flavor. Nekusar, the Mindrazer was also my first general (though I don't have a deck with him anymore), so it would be nice to be able to play him for sentimental reasons, but not actually have the deck built around him. I think all the "dies" triggers will be fun too. Gives me an excuse to splurge on a Grave Pact. Not to mention this is the first real reason I have ever had to run my single copy of Sundial of the Infinite.
