EDHRec.com gave me options

Commander Deck Help forum

So I heard about EDHRec.com from a friend a couple of weeks ago (Octrate), and I almost immediately thought it is fantastic! (Although I would highly recommend against only using it, because it relies completely on statistics on what people are playing, which is almost guaranteed to miss certain cards! Great resource, just not comprehensive.) Today, I plugged in my three Magic Online decks into it, and got some good recommendations. Here are what I liked from the recommended cards and what I think I could take out without any problem. Thoughts?

Out with Brittle Effigy, Fact or Fiction, Jace's Ingenuity, and Skullclamp.
In with Treachery, Rhystic Study, Visions of Beyond, and Desertion.

Out with Brawler's Plate and Angelic Armaments.
In with Green Sun's Zenith and Argentum Armor.

Out with Scythe Specter and Bone Dancer.
In with Words of Waste and Anvil of Bogardan.

Thank you in advance! :)

I might have to plug mine in. Beans on Toast see what happens lol

I really like EDHRec. The guy who made it set it up so if you link an EDH decklist on Reddit, it'll automatically make suggestions in the thread. It's good stuff.

Is your Talrand deck more "cantrips" Talrand or "counterspells" Talrand? Because I'm iffy on you cutting out FoF.

Okay so after plugging BOT into the analyzer, I can honestly say that I'm not at all impressed. It seemed like it just gave me suggestions on random cards, not cards that fit my deck's theme. 0/10 for now, may try other decks later.

canterlotguardian, do it! :D

erabel, Yeah, it quickly became my favorite EDH resource (that someone else created)! Over Epoch's lists, over MTGSalvation's combo list, and over CommandTheory's blogs.

I have more cantrips than counterspells, but I have some counterspells to actually interact with players lol. I have found that FoF doesn't really do all that much, especially at the cost of 4 mana.

GSZ seems bad in a deck with only 5 creatures that are all mana dorks.

Idk why you'd want to take out Skullclamp or FoF. Treachery and Rhystic Study are good but I'd leave in the stuff it wants you to take out.

canterlotguardian, I tried my Medomai deck and my Xira Arien deck as well, and they both came out with crap. I guess it depends if people see your commander the same way you do, which is why I haven't plugged in Rafiq or Derevi, because I know I will see a whole bunch of random-ass crap cards, and I don't like being provoked to flaming. lol

Wait did someone from EDHRec like hack your profile and post this as an advertisement for them? Like the spam posts on Facebook and such?

canterlotguardian It runs statistical data based on how heavily cards are used for a given commander. It doesn't help with themes outside of basic tribal or very commonly played styles. It's very general.

ThisIsBullshit tbh, GSZ is primarily for Tajuru Preserver.

As for those two cards, they just haven't preformed very well since I've got mostly cantrips, and most of my creatures have toughness >1. Rhystic and Treachery are just two options I didn't think were in my price range but apparently are.
