Kaladesh Tansformation —Oct. 5, 2016

With Kaladesh finally out I have been able to finally set out do effectively do what I have been wanting to do with Sydri. With Aetherflux Reservoir and Sydri on board I finally have a unique win con for egg storm. I've been testing it for a few days and this deck makes has performed beautifully. Most games have me casting ad nauseum until i get down to about 5 health and then dropping the Reservoir the following turn, shooting up to 50-60 health and then blasting everyone for 50 damage. Glorious.

I'd just like to ask. Why Cancel instead of Dissolve?

I can't really give you an answer other than I completely forgot about it. It will replace cancel. Thank you for mentioning it.

Yeah no problem! I thought it looked out of place in a deck as tuned as this.

Muzzio, Visionary Architect can put in some work finding lots of artifacts off the top of your library. Also out of curiosity. Is there a reason you aren't running Darksteel Forge? Seems like an auto-include but i could be missing something.

Hey there, thanks for the upvote and the suggestions. This is the hyper competitive version of "Sydri is Just Meh". Muzzio, while awesome and almost like having a second Arcum, was just too slow for this version of the deck. He has made it into other incarnations of it though and Im contemplating throwing him back into the version I am running now. This deck's main focus is to blow up lands infinitely as soon as possible (turns 2-4) so Darksteel forge becomes unnecessary for this build but just like the case of Muzzio it has found its way into other incarnations of this deck. Thanks again for the suggestions!

Loving how this deck is coming together. It's probably more of a meta thing, but maybe replace Victim of Night with Vindicate. You lose the instant speed and it costs 1 more, but covers a lot more which can be a godsend against more oppressive enchantments and artifacts. Can also be used to mana screw opponents early in the game if they're running 3+ colors.

Another nice card to consider could be Intuition or Mystical Teachings over Diabolic Intent. Only reason I'd maybe favor those two over Intent is because of your low creature count and the fact that only 3 of your creatures can be sacrificed without losing anything important(since they're ETB creatures).

I dont know why these things werent in there. I know a whileago I did some changes but i dont recall ever getting rid of said things...i mean...theyre in the deck haha. I always forget about vindicate. I dont know why. I think its because when I was younger it was one of those Ill never be able to buy it cards so it jut slips my mind.

Wow! This looks scary. Would you mind checking out my esper deck and maybe making some suggestions? I would really appreciate it. It's called Sen Stooges.

+1 for scary

You're probably aware of this, but I just noticed it wasn't in your description - you actually have one more infinite mana combo in your deck. Copying the untap ability of Grim Monolith Rings of Brighthearth can get you infinite mana. With Sensei's Divining Top in the mix you can also draw your deck.

@Andrew6Gardiner Actually, Grim Monolith costs to untap. Add on the for Rings of Brighthearth, and you are netting in the process. You do get infinite untaps of an artifact, but that doesn't really matter.

The card that combo is done with is Basalt Monolith

I think there was a reason I didn't include power artifact in here. Its been so long and the deck has changed so much I don't remember the reason for not including it. I've recently started playing casually again and the decklist looks nothing like this anymore. I guess I should probably change it on here too.

I've been asked a few times to put the original decklist for Sydri back up here. Since I no longer play this deck at tournaments and have slowed it down a bit I have been considering it. Any thoughts???

I'm considering building a deck with Sydri and so I would love to see the original decklist as well as keeping this current decklist to see and compare the differences! So far from what I have seen, looks sick!

why not play Forbid instead of Dissolve

and Arcane Denial also realy good

There is never a moment in this deck where I would give up 2 cards to buyback Forbid so its essentially a 3 mana counterspell. Dissolve can at least scry a card for me. I don't particularly like Arcane Denial because I don't like giving my opponents cards.
