Soul Sisters for Beginners

Casual

ZxZTheLuvz

Decided that I wanted to start teaching some of my friends and my older brother how to play Magic the Gathering. I had some trouble at first on how I wanted to go about doing that, but I think now I have a good idea on how I am gonna go about this. I am going to be doing three different "sets". The three sets being: Beginner/Intermediate, Duel Decks, and finally Advanced. The "Beginner" half of the first set will include a mono colored deck for each of the five colors (). Each of the decks will be a variation of a Modern deck that encompasses what that color does. The decklist for the "Beginner" section of the first set will be as following:

Soul Sisters () Red Burn () Blue Control () Black Devotion () Green Stompy ()

Our mono white representative for the "Beginner" section is Soul Sisters. Soul Sisters is a mono white lifegain/combo deck for Modern. I chose this deck in particular due to the fact that gaining life is a very easy concept to get behind and is one of white's core mechanics. I have tweaked the deck to fit to what I feel is best for this series and to keep the deck from being a literal 1 to 1 copy of it's original deck. Much like the original deck, I have an entire playset of Soul Warden, Soul's Attendant, Martyr of Sands, Path to Exile, Ranger of Eos, and Spectral Procession. I have also added a pair of Aetherflux Reservoir as a sort of back up win condition, an entire playset of Mother of Runes to protect any key creatures that may be targeted with removal, a pair of Auriok Champion and Fiendslayer Paladin. They both have protection from Black and Red, so Auriok is a good stand in for either Soul Warden, or Soul's Attendant seeing as she has a little more evasion in her disposal. The same protection is present in Fiendslayer Paladin, however he acts as an attacker given that he has First Strike, and Lifelink. Serra Ascendant is present in the deck but only as a two-copy. While he is integral to the deck, I only added him as a two copy to keep the cost of the deck now (I will be doing similar things with the other decks). The same was done to Flagstones of Trokair, and Ghost Quarter. Also due to the changes I will be making, the power level of these decks will decrease, but that was the intended purpose. As I said, the mono colored and dual colored decks are intended for new/returning Magic players. I wanted the decks to be somewhat good so that they can at least win a couple games when playing with me and my other friends that already play Magic.
