This is my first time building a combo deck, so I chose a cheap one to start with: Devoted Druid + Quillspike .

It works by tapping the Devoted Druid for mana, then untapping it with a -1/-1 counter. Use the mana to remove the counter with Quillspike, also making it larger. Do this as many times as you like and win with Rite of Consumption or combat damage.

Necrotic Ooze is a natural compliment to this combo. Thornling was added to make Ooze better and also as an alternative win-con in case my combo is killed.

This is also my first Modern deck. I wanted to keep it budget foremost, at least during it's trial period. Ideally I would replace Elves of Deep Shadow with Birds of Paradise, Naturalize with Abrupt Decay, and Jarad's Orders with Fauna Shaman. I also currently only have basic lands in the deck.

This deck was inspired by the deck Modern Necrotic ooze by Murphy.
