Conjurer's Closet would be a good artifact for your bounce strategy.

the tournaments I'm in actually have Sol Ring as a banned card, I'm seriously considering Gauntlet of Might because it has always been one of my favorite artifacts as I've always been a red player :)

Are you playing 1v1? Because Sol Ring isn't supposed to be banned, unless you're playing French.

Ruination can be great when you're playing mono coloured.

Yeh. The French list bans a lot of the normal stuff seen. Ruination may be banned too. Not sure.

I know for a fact that aggro is a lot more prevalent in French due to the decreased starting life and the ban on certain tutor cards (which weakens the normal combo decks).

Cloudstone Curio , Umbilicus , Norin the Wary all may help. Without cheap tokens i doubt the Keldon Warlord will be as powerful as he looks at first glance. A Soul Foundry might be fun...especially if you get it on a Ball Lightning or something like that. Sneak Attack looks like it will be awesome with cards like Shivan Phoenix , I haven't seen that combo played yet. If you are not completely adverse to tokens you could add to your mana ramp with a few cards that create eldrazi tokens (0/1 creatures that can be sacced for 1 mana).

Those 0/1s with Skullclamp are also wicked card draw.

French edh has a very fast and aggressive meta. I think the most common commanders are zur and geist of st traft. Basically; you cant play 1v1 at all like you play group games.
