I hate to say this but Jace would be great in here, tap to loot and just discard something big then cast lore

Yeah, I definitely agree with you there. Jace would actually make this deck competitive. I was able to mill out a somewhat fast Eldrazi deck recently without Jace, but I think in order to really complete this it would require Jace.

Living Lore won't make contact. More counter, more removal, +Howl of the Horde or Temur Battle Rage. I would actually try Red/White or Red/Black with Alesha, Who Smiles at Death. If not, then push Living Lore back some turns.

Agreed Alesha would be a great asset here. Black has some big spells, you could also technically add in different color spells as a one of without mana fixing as you aren't casting them.

Not just spells. If you play red/black or red/white you could rez your Living Lore without casting any blue.

Lore doesn't need to make direct contact with the player, it just needs to deal combat damage. But yes, you could do the reverse and just recur Lore. Seems very versite after discussing it for a bit. Was just another card in my binder until now. Lol.

The best part about Red with Living Lore. Howl of the Horde. You don't need Volcanic Vision. Getting three turns after the one you just played? Much more useful. Follow up with another Living Lore to cast three Talent of the Telepath for a 21 card mill and possibly six free spells.

Yeah, I don't play Living Lore without my Howl of the Horde. Those two were made for each other. Especially when you start throwing in Profound Journey and Necromantic Summons.

Also, a Temporal Trespass and a Temur Battle Rage, very fun. Sucks that Generator Servant rotated out, but still a good combo.

Hey everyone, thanks for the feedback, it's greatly appreciated. As for the suggestions, Alesha is something I've thought of before. In order to take advantage of Alesha, I'd have to splash black in the deck, which I really do not wish to do. White is pretty much out of the question. Rez on Lore is also a distraction from the main purpose of the deck, which is not to do damage with LL, but rather to mill. The Deck is so cheap because it's lean and mean with its only purpose being to mill as fast as possible. After play testing a bit, it does tend to mill decks very fast.

Temure Battle Rage is a great idea, an 11/11 Temporal Trespass Living Lore with double strike and trample on turn 5 isn't bad I hear lol.

You are correct in that Living Lore does not need to do combat damage to the player for the deck to work, as it just needs to swing and sac so I can cast (ideally) a Treasure Cruise for free with at least one Sphinx out. All of the draw card playsets allow me to mill fast, or draw into the cards necessary in order to mill out fast. Howl of the Horde has been on my mind as a way to draw 9 cards on turn 5 for 3 mana. I'll take the suggestions and run with it for the weekend though. Thanks again everyone.

I think I'd like to put a modern spin on this idea. Smells like brew time.

For some reason people think I meant contact with only the player. I meant it won't make contact with anything without reliable counter to removal, while the spell won't make contact with the battlefield without counters to counters. It is THE weakness to Living Lore. So much rides on setting up a single turn that often times it is easy to disrupt and sometimes overuse the mana to not cast your counters to their's.

So three counter spells? Not gonna cut it. The only alternative to that is haste to cast and attack when their mana is spent. But without haste they can prepare, so you must as well.

Also, have you considered replacing Temporal and Volcanic with Dragonlord's Prerogative? A twelve card draw spell tripled with Horde could give you a minimum mill of 36 cards with a single Sphinx. With two of them that's a 60 card minimum mill. That's a one shot hit that doesn't need direct damage. Probably gonna try it myself now that I mentioned it. Been a while since I played red with my Lores. :p

Whoops. Brain fart. Don't know how it got to twelve card draw. Lmao. Way too early.

Wait, I was right. 12 cards drawn after Dragonlord's Prerogative and Howl of the Horde. 24 Sphinx's Tutelage minimum. Second Sphinx, another 24. Yeah, that's a sixty card mill. Honestly, just cast a second Sphinx instead of a Lore and you could cast a Treasure Cruise for one mana, and trigger Howl's raid with a 1/1, then you would have a 45 card mill. Not bad on turn five without Living Lore. Should have drawn a minimum of 11 cards by that time, which would mean four cards left if the deck had sixty. Easy pickings for a Dragonlord or Talent of the Telepath. Not that the odds of two Sphinx out by turn five are that good.

Dragonlord's Prerogative is a great idea. Check out the latest edit and thanks everyone! It's pretty close to being done, as far as I'm concerned. I could have made this tri-color with black and made this slightly competitive, but this deck has hit its ceiling in terms of potential as far as I'm concerned. If anyone still has ways of making it better, I'm open to suggestions as always.

This deck mills fast. Able to mill out a slightly fast El Drazi deck with no colored cards within two turns kind of fast. It's weak, it's a glass cannon, but if you have most of the cards sitting around this one is really fun to play around with. Will work for FNM if for nothing but the surprise factor, but will be found out quickly.

Played some Mill myself on FNM. Never got a Lore or Howl combo off, but still won through mill versus red/green eldrazi with UB cards.

Sphinx's Tutelage, Dark Deal, Dark Petition, and Fascination. Technically able to mill a deck in a single turn by turn 5 with Living Lore and Howl of the Horde. But effective without.

I want to take out red and try adding lockdown enchantments then follow up with Displacement Wave. Makes Dark Deal much more effective.

Tormenting Voice is too cool for delve feul/Lore in general. Displacement Wave should be part of the control sideboard version of this deck. Speaking of which, I need to throw together.
