MNM! —June 27, 2016

I know I said I'd take a week off, but I figured I'd go in even with a partially-completed deck. This week, I was missing two Advocates and all three World Breakers, but in spite of that, I went 3-0! Very encouraging, and I assume that when I do complete my upgrades it will be even better.

Match 1: vs. Bant Human Company (2-0). Two fast, brutal games. A turn-four Sphinx of the Final Word secured game one, with my fleet of five-drop fliers sealing the deal in game two.

Match 2: vs. Jund Midrange (2-0). Game one was long and grindy, since it took me a very long time to get to any of my seven-drops, but once a few Sphinx of the Final Word hit the board, things ended quickly. Game two was rockier, with a turn 3 Infinite Obliteration nabbing my sphinxes, but a mostly unopposed Lumbering Falls was able to swing him down, with a Gaea's Revenge to finish the job.

Match 3: vs. G/W Midrange (2-1). Game one was messy and unpleasant, but mercifully quick. A mulligan down to a bad six-card hand resulted in a fast loss. Game two was much longer and very close, with a few key Displacement Waves and the timely appearance of a Guardian of Tazeem allowing me to scrape through for a victory. Like game one, game three was also very fast, although this time it was as a result of a turn four Drowner of Hope (a card I wouldn't even be playing if I had all of my Sylvan Advocates) followed up by two Guardian of Tazeems with several Islands and an Evolving Wilds to back them up, getting relevant blockers out of the way and securing a quick victory.

An exciting and rewarding Monday! Special thanks to Guardian of Tazeem, of all things, for his help in this week's victories.

I pretty much built this deck today, with a few changes. I dropped 1 Sphinx of the Final Word, replaced Nissa's Pilgrimage with 3x Weirding Wood, threw in 2x Nissa's Renewal, added 4x Skyrider Elf, and dropped the land count to 22. Also mainboarded the Altered egos and removed the greenwarden. It seems to play fairly well, but I'm not so sure about the skyriders. Changes will be made soon.

Perhaps add another card type to help get delirium for your Deathcap Cultivator? Perhaps an enchantment like From Beyond? Helps find your World Breaker too. Or possibly Alchemist's Vial?

@Delta-117

Thanks for the +1! I'm not really that concerned with Deathcap Cultivator's delirium - certainly not concerned enough to put in cards specifically to help trigger it. That being said, I do really, really like From Beyond generally, but I don't think it's at its best in my deck. Thanks for the suggestions.

Well perhaps next rotation those cards might be more appealing. Anyways +1 on the deck by the way, since not many decks seem to make use of kiora whatsoever.
