Dark Ascension —Jan. 17, 2012

I plan on combining this with my Morbid deck once Dark Ascension hits. Tell me what you think about it and who should be cut/added in order to effectively merge them.

Don't be afraid to run a few more land, even though your deck has cheap creatures. 22 should work just fine still. Otherwise you may be mulliganing with your opening hand.

Be careful of Day of Judgment or card:Black Sun's Zenith. They would put a quick end to this deck.

Maybe add 2x card:Apostle's Blessing to save your good creatures from dying?

Spirit Mantle could do wonders here.

Mono-white decks have lots of weaknesses, so add 2-4x Nevermore in your sideboard to take out their game plan in match 2.

Good luck!

Take a look at my deck:imn-control-please-comment deck and see how it could effect your deck (i.e. multiple board sweeps, counterspells, and removeal)

no Honor of the Pure and Thraben Sentry  Flip  FlipMTG Card: Thraben Militia, Accorder Paladin and Doomed Traveler for a play set of Honor of the Pure and a play set of Grand Abolisher for 2 Mentor of the Meek and 2 Champion of the Parish . and lastly drop Spare from Evil and Silver-Inlaid Dagger for 2 more lands and 3 Oblivion Ring s and 3 Angelic Destiny .

thats my mana worth hope it helps.

I'll see if anyone has any card:Apostle's Blessing and Spirit Mantle . Solid looking cards that I didn't know about. Same goes with the Nevermore sideboard, though I did know about that one.

As for Honor of the Pure I read that that would get added on while I am playing a creature so that would make Mentor of the Meek 's ability less viable. I don't have any Mirran Crusader s because the friend that is lending me his Grand Abolisher s is currently using them. I only have 1 mentor and 2 champions and honestly I wouldn't drop the abolishers for them anyway as my friends like to put multiple counters in most of their decks. Spare from Evil has won the match for me enough times for me to keep them in. I will probably take out some or all of the daggers. The $10 Angelic Destiny is awesome, and I would use them if I could, but they are hardly budget.

Thanks for the responses.

And what is peoples fascination with o-rings? I always see them in decks like this but can't really figure out why people think it is so amazing. Sure it can take out a problem creature/enchantment/artifact, but Spare from Evil usually does the trick of letting me slide past them.

Hahaha yes O-ring is a greatly over-used card that Standard player throw tantrums about if it gets rotated out, so get used to seeing it often.

The best way to duck an O-ring is with a counter O-ring, or simple disenchants. Definitely consider side-boarding or even main-boarding some Silverchase Fox es if you find yourself commonly getting bogged down with O-rings and other enchantments. Also, it will still trigger your Mentor of the Meek =D

Went 1:2 at FNM draft and could have gotten a Mikaeus, the Lunarch if I would have won the last match (I got land screwed both times and the guy that I lost to took Mikaeus).

Lost the chance at a second Angelic Overseer at another draft last Friday. :(
