BFZ —Oct. 13, 2015

With Thoughtseize (ouch), Mana Confluence and Banishing Light gone, the deck found new mainboard material in Shambling Vents (as a 2-of, it's okay to have tap-lands even in a aggro deck like this I think) and, for now, a one-of Quarantine Field. I moved (weaker) hand disruption in the form of Duress to the sideboard and boosted removal. Not quite sure which removal to use yet though. The creatures, the base of the deck, remains untouched.

Thanks so much for all your input. Next up is making this deck fit for post-rotations. My plan for now is Duress for Thoughtseize, Suspension Field for Banishing Light and Swamp and Plains For Mana Confluence. Also, I'm thinking about Liliana, Heretical Healer  Flip plus Fleshbag Marauder and also Graveblade Marauder. What are your thoughts?

I'd do a split between duress and despise for the thoughtsieze. Although there could be a nice disruption card released in BFZ.

Despise is not really that great. I would keep Duress in the sideboard. Hopefully, a new hand disruption spell will come out with the new set.

Despise isn't the best I'll agree, but it gets what duress can't. Therefore I would use it until something better comes along

There is a reason why those who build competitive decks do not run Despise and do run Duress. It is actually Duress that can get what Despise cannot. Decks that can play Despise also play removal. So if a creature gets into play, big deal. That is what removal is for. Most removal cannot get rid of planeswalkers, which both cards in question can, but Duress can get rid of instants, sorceries, which unless you are playing blue (in Standard) you can't stop, and enchantments, which are harder to remove. Make sense?

I agree. I will probably go for 3 Duress in mainboard and play the fourth in sideboard against more control-heavy decks. I do need hand dispruption and the possiblity of pulling a Languish or a Tragic Arrogance is there. My other plan against sweepers includes Grim Haruspex and maybe Merciless Executioner who is even a warrior. Still ... I'm hoping there will be a better Thoughtseize-replacement in BFZ.

Im with ya adamantium13. Duress does give the wider spectrum of cards to hit. A new version of hero's downfall is coming in the new set. Which I think is a great removal card.

Wizards just revealed an awesome new Banishing Light, with WWX in its costs - it banishes X targets! It's gonna be a two of in the deck, I think - at least. Yay!

Raider's Spoils is something to consider.. maybe even as a side board option for grindier match ups.. with secure the wastes it can win you games.

clashingsword you are referring to Quarantine Field, which is WWXX. it is pretty good. 4 mana for one target but 6 mana for 2 targets.

Yes thanks gemyniraptor86. I think I will have it as a one of, it can be brutal (the cost of WWX would be too broken) :)
