Power Adjustment and Tune-up —July 21, 2020

Hello Everyone! Its been a while for this deck. It's not surprising, as I generally do not play this deck all that much. I have been typically just enjoying my other decks, and I am not very into Control Decks, which this deck is a Hybrid Control/Voltron Deck.

However, Now that I have made one of my other decks into a totally different power level, I decided that this deck needs some love again and some adjustments so that It is a little better suited to hang in the ring with Similar decks on its power level.

Overall, same strategy: Assemble the Orbital Death Ray for Bruna, and then control the game long enough to where you can just start Alpha Striking people. I feel like the deck is a little telegraphic, so Its in this odd position as one of my best/worst decks.

It's still a work in progress but after the latest round of testing I am pretty happy with the changes. Without further ado, here are the Changes, starting with the most major change:

Cyclonic Rift --------------------------------------> Teferi, Master of Time:

I pulled the latest Teferi, and knew He had to go in the deck. Using his abilities at Instant speed is insane, especially how his draw card effects can easily get bonkers strong due to the fact that most Auras you can draw can go straight to the graveyard. Its been very fun to play with, and I have had to throw in some protection to avoid getting as targeting as I do with Him out. These changes serve to also protect my other planeswalkers as well.

Thran Dynamo ----------------------------> Solemn Simulacrum:

Sadly, I think that the Dynamo becomes too much of a crutch in this deck: if someone destroys it, (and they will) it becomes that much harder for the deck to recover. It's too much of a resource for my Opponents and too much investment. Therefore, I have made this swap to Mitigate the issue. it also provides a little extra draw, which is nice.

Counterspell -------------------------> Narset's Reversal:

I have had a lot of fun with this card, and Kinda honestly? It's just a bit more effective then a normal counterspell, as this card can flip the script on any major play in a moment's notice. Since the costs are the same, I have made this change.

Forbid ----------------------> Swan Song:

This change is still a little questionable in my eyes, only because while I do like a repeatable counterspell, I do not like that it costs so much. 3 mana, AND I have to discard two auras (Ideally). There are only 18 auras in the deck at the moment, so I feel that Forbid is not necessarily the best card at the moment. With Swan Song, it is easier to leave open and can respond to threats more precisely. I feel its a stronger swap overall, so in it goes.

Thalia, Heretic Cathar ------------------> Callaphe, Beloved by the Sea:

Thalia is really good, but unfortunately rather then slow my opponents, I wanna make sure that they cannot just outright target my stuff, and this change will greatly assist with that as spells will be harder to use.

Fog Bank ------------------------> Drannith Magistrate:

I do love some effective control pieces, and while Fog Bank does make an excellent shield, the Magistrate can straight up shut down certain decks. It's a great inclusion and here, and a perfect stepping stone if this deck ever becomes a Control deck.

Dissipate ----------------------> Staggering Insight:

Honestly? I just wanted spells that were going to be cheaper, and I thought that this card was great for some early game build up. It's certainly proven its worth in the early game, so we shall see if it is more effective then not. Plus, having another aura helps the deck out with enchantment and other effects.

Totem-Guide Hartebeest -----------------------------> Archon of Sun's Grace:

Honestly, with all the planeswalkers I have in here, I wanted a few cards that could really bolster my defensive power and make sure I can keep my Walkers and myself protected. Plus, the deck really does not have an issue finding its Auras between all the draw and all the Tutoring to begin with. I have been pretty happy about all the Pegasus that seem to come out with this deck, as I easily can get 4 Pegasuses whenever Bruna pulls Auras out the yard. Its an effective swap and it stays.

Dream Trawler ---------------------> Ajani's Chosen:

Same principle as the last change. Trawler isnt bad but its just too clunky, and I needed some Edge and make sure I can get some bodies on board. Plus, with the Chosen, I can even potentially move my Auras around. I think its a worthy change, so it stays.
