Rivals of Ixalan Analysis —Jan. 17, 2018

There are a few cards we need to discuss from RIX. ( You can listen to this handy podcast for expanded views on RIX, with added bonus of cEDH view from our good friend Andro - http://mtgcast.com/mtgcast-podcast-shows/active-podcast-shows/elder-dragon-durdle/elder-dragon-durdle-podcast-59-rix-spoiler-with-andro )

Path of Mettle  Flip - It is a cute card that spares a few creatures once it lands, however it kills plenty of tokens and that part is quite appealing. However unless we have Thalia 1.0/2.0 and Alesha it is hard to flip. Now, let us see if flip is even worth it - fixes mana, shocks everyone and maybe kills a creature you want. I guess it depends how much you value shock/destroy. If you value card draw/damage Vance's Blasting Cannons  Flip might be more your cup of tea (but double the mana cost is kind of a bummer)

Overall score 4/10 - Cute card, but you have to jump through so many hoops, at least in this list. If you put in more haste/first strikers/double strikers dudes (Like Scab-Clan Berserker ) feel free to bump the rating to 6.5/10

Twilight Prophet - 4 mana for 2/4 flyer is already an ok deal. Being a good impersonator of Dark Confidant is also great (yo, Ruin Raider ) However, how easily do we get to 10 permanents? With all of the rocks and dudes we play, 10 shouldn't be that difficult to obtain. And than take into consideration the fact that this Bob doesn't drain you, but your OPPONENTS and fills you up, so you can fuel even more into Necropotence - this is a great card that you might even hard cast more often than reanimate, just because you want to hit ascend in favorable time.

Overall score - 7-5/10

Blood Sun - Now, on the linked podcast, I am super stoked about the Blood Sun, however more I think about it, less I like it. It shuts down things you would already shut down with Magus of the Moon but does it worse, since it makes Ravnica Karoos better and similar bad lands better (hence enforcing peoples bad land habits) and doesn't shut down people with greedy mana bases as much.

Overall score - 5/10

Dire Fleet Daredevil - Slowcaster Mage is here! Now he ain't half as good as Snapcaster, with lack of Flash and being able to hit only your opponents graveyard. However, we aren't in Blue, and if you do have a bunch of pesky Blue mages, this might be alright. I need to test this card further.

Overall score - ?/10

Ravenous Chupacabra - Little Nekrataal that could! Little pupper doesn't care of colour of living state of your opponents creatures, he just cares that they aren't yours. Ain't he loyal?

Now seriously, Chupacabra is great, and if you needed more removal, slot him in. He can't kill your dudes, but that is what sac outlets are for!

Overall Score - 7.5/10

The Immortal Sun - Now now, I know. It is 6 mana. That is a lot. But what we get out of it is amazing. Screws peoples planeswalkers, boosts our mana, grants us cards and anthems. I do need to test this card further, and I doubt it will be an Alesha staple, but it is a solid add-on, especially if you go a bit more casual.

Overall Score - 7/10

@Mishraharad can't wait for that! I definitely think we want Twilight Prophet, Direfleet Daredevil, maybe Ravenous Chupacabra? So many great options for this deck! Been having tons of fun playing this list!
