Enchantment Removal

Standard Deck Help forum

Hello all,

In Standards or yore, cards like Dromoka's Command effectively kept enchantments out of the format. Without a versatile card such as that (see Abrade for doing the same for artifacts) enchantments are starting to be a major part of the format again (Search for Azcanta  Flip, Anointed Procession etc...).

My question is, are any of you running enchantment hate in your sideboards, and if so which are you running? Thanks and Happy Brewing!

Cragon18,
I'm often in Green, and though I'm not currently running any Enchantment hate, Appetite for the Unnatural is my hate of choice ... it's almost always a contender for a sideboard slot or two. Sure it's expensive, but Instant-speed unconditional removal is worth it.

Crushing Canopy is an intriguing option too, but imo it's more about crushing Glorybringer than Enchantments.

In addition to those cards already mentioned:

Fragmentize/Demystify are cheap and answer enchantments. Decommission/Forsake the Worldly are higher costing, but have wider applications. Creeping Mold and Slice in Twain are the highest costing, but can also hit a land or draw you a card.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! clayperce and mavoricke, Appetite for the Unnatural was certainly my first thought, but I like the idea of Crushing Canopy if you are in a deck that already has access to Abrade so the versatility of hitting artifacts and enchantments is less valuable. Crushing Canopy gives you access to a versatile sideboard card that, as you mentioned hits Glorybringer which is huge. I also like the idea of Creeping Mold since after these artifacts/enchantments flip into lands they can be VERY problematic. I would definitely do some playtesting with that card to see how it plays. Thanks again!

Field of Ruin takes care of Enchantments like Search for Azcanta  Flip, once they have flipped.

I like Fragmentize most if you're in White. It hits Cast Out, Primal Amulet, Anointed Procession, Ixalan's Binding, and just about every other playable artifact/enchantment in the format. That said, if you're in white, you're probably already running some split of Cast Out and Ixalan's Binding, so the number of Fragmentize I use in my sideboard is often pretty minimal.
