Getting into modern: Mono white Human Soldiers/Knights or both?

I'm trying to get into modern and seeing that theirs so many types i can't decide on what to focus. I have a mono white deck for standard that mainly focus humans for my champion of the parish. I don't know if I should focus on soldiers for the sake of my champion of Parish, go all knight w/o the Parish or run a hybrid.

I'd say fuck soldiers and knights, and just build a humans deck, make sure you splash green for Mayor of Avabruck Flip .
Check out my humans deck: Hero of the Parish

The Kinsbaile Cavalier and Knight Exemplar make quick work of anybody that can't remove them, throw in 4x Knight of Meadowgrain and people start cussin at ya. I'd def say knights, I've got a deck here you can look at if ya want :) knight vision

Although if you want to make an army type deck, it's a lot more difficult to make Knight tokens than to make Soldier tokens, plus there are fewer Knight lords than Soldier lords. Conqueror's Pledge is awesome, as are Timely Reinforcements and Raise the Alarm

Preeminent Captain makes soldiers good. But knights are better IMO.

well. its up to you. luckily, you can compare both of these decks and see which one you like better

I dunno about Humans being competitive enough in modern. Soldiers is a thing though, or it has been in the past. Knights is a thing in casual. Goodluck with those ideas.

I wouldn't mind building both in the future when i have more cash, Its hard to decide because I could focus on humans and it would save me money but I also like to win and I don't know if humans can be that competitive.

i think soldiers are a good pick if you like to win. also, mono colored decks are usually more cheap to play without any real drawback because you don't need to buy expensive shock lands or dual lands. whats your budget? i can create a copy of my soldier deck to fit your budget without making it any worse

@Tempest, I think the only cards that would be difficult to buy would be the planeswalkers, 2 cavern of soul and that artifact that makes your creatures indestructible just because I wouldn't be able to produce tokens without them and I don't want to sacrifice my own creatures to keep its ability. I might just add in o-ring or from what I hear Path to Exile is a thing. For Preeminent Captain ability does the creature that I play from my hand stay in the field or back to my hand at the end step?
May 15, 2013 10:45 p.m.
yea. that's probably what i'd do. its just that those cards are more effective within my playgroup. so just add a mix of Oblivion Ring and Path to Exile . it stays on the battlefield. that's what makes it good. oh, and just to note, if you put another Preeminent Captain onto the battlefield with the original Preeminent Captain , you can't put a 3rd creature onto the battlefield. its says "tapped and attacking" which means the ability doesn't trigger. just thought i would tell you. glad you're using my deck! tell how well you do on my deck page! =]

I'm start making proxies for this deck and try it out tomorrow against his deck, he runs Red white blue midrange/control so it might be difficult. Whats your opinion on silence, the New Gideon from gatecrash and silver blade paladin? I read that you don't like honor of pure , Hero of Bladehold and I do see how honor of pure delays a bit and that Hero is a 4 drop. I might add in a few honor of pure for the boost. Would it be bad to add 2 sun titans so I have a better chance to drawn him?

The new Gideon is fine but don't change the deck other than that. It's supposed to be pretty fast. Adding the other cards mentioned would only slow it down. Honor of the Pure does boost but you already have 4 other creatures for that. I really don't think it's necessary. Btw, take a look at my other soldier deck. It's private but shared with you. You may have to go to the view all page on my wall to find it. I believe its more casual but also a little faster

Stick with one Sun Titan and maybe sideboard the other... and Honor of the Pure is good enough to throw in 2 of but for faster build anymore than 2 would be too much. Hero of Bladehold is also another one of those good one ofs for the deck, a 3/4 four drop battle cry token generator is never a bad thing especially if it fits the theme of deck. Path to Exile , Swords to Plowshares , Oblivion Ring , and maybe even Blind Obedience are all great ways to slow down most opponents. Also, if you like Sun Titan then maybe check out Emeria, The Sky Ruin . It wont bring back o-rings or honor of the pure but it can help a lot if you get those 7 planes out :) good luck with the deck!

I'm side boarding blind obedience for now, I'll cut down honor of pure because your right the deck already has alot of buffs. I'll try and see if I like Hero of Bladehold in this deck maybe just a 1 copy.

Champion of the Parish depends on Humans, not Soldiers.
I have a Soldier deck loaded onto TappedOut, Godhead of Awesome. You can get some ideas from there.
Knight decks usually involved Kinsbaile Cavalier and Knight Exemplar , which are pretty devastating lords
