Chandra is one of my favorite planeswalkers, but I can't decide on which version is the best to get. Any ideas?

Thats a good question. Could you specify what format or strategy you want to play? This will help answering your question .

Chandra, Torch of Defiance is the best Chandra ever made.

It is great in just about any deck, giving you a choice of free mana, or free draw/direct damage.

Its Emblem is also brutal.

Unfortunately, at least in my opinion, many Chandra planeswalkers with the exception Chandra, Torch of Defiance, but the only other two that are, in my opinion, good are Chandra, Flamecaller which saw a small bit of play in PT Amonkhet with Aetherworks Marvel decks, and Chandra, Roaring Flame. But other than that, as Argy, and greyninja mention, Torch of defiance is probably by far the best Chandra out there

It would help to know what kind of deck you are planning on making, on its own Chandra, Torch of Defiance is by far the best Chandra, but that doesn't mean cards like Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh  Flip or Chandra, Flamecaller can't work it all depends on the deck.

Chandra, Torch of Defiance definitely takes the top spot. I don't think it's by a wide margin, but a fairly cosy one.

The second best is a bit of a toss-up between Chandra, Pyromaster and Chandra, Flamecaller. Flamecaller might be a touch better, but Pyromaster is less specific in the decks you play her. Of course, Flamecaller has the edge in this case because it isn't made redundant by the aforementioned better 4CMC Chandra (a bit of a torchy subject though, right?).

Chandra, Pyromaster needs the right kind of deck for her Ult to work, namely a Burn deck. Even then it's a bit hit and miss if you have a lot of cheap Burn spells.

Chandra, Torch of Defiance is better in a Burn deck due to the Ramp, and/ or constant damage.

To me, Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh  Flip is the second best Chandra, due to the constant damage she can deal. She's also great in a Burn deck. I've had her help me deal twelve damage for four mana, in one Turn.

Chandra, Torch of Defiance, play Wild Slash Chandra play Wild Slash play Lightning Strike flip, deal two damage with Chandra Roaring Flame's  Flip first ability.

So good though.

I'm just flashing back to that era of Standard and how hopeful some people were about that card at my LGS.

I played with it during the time of Journey into Nyx, in a Non-Creature spell heavy deck.

If it hit Lava Axe that was pretty much game over.

Problem was that sometimes all you got to choose from were a mix of Creatures, Lands, and pissy little spells like Shock.

I'm not actually saying it's a bad card, or even the worst Chandra. As I said above, it just needs the right deck to shine in, as opposed to Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh  Flip who gives more reliable damage in a Burn deck. She doesn't really care if you are playing Creature or Non-Creature spells.

I've never actually seen a Pyromaster ult before. I've only ever seen the 0 spammed and the occasional ping on a Glistener Elf or something. Pyromaster isn't for aggro decks, really.

If you are playing burn and for some reason feel like playing "expensive" creatures and planeswalkers (probably not advisable), flip Chandra and torchy Chandra are the only ones you should even consider.

So basically, which one you play depends on your deck. But you'll only play one listed above in the discussion. The other, what was it, 3 Chandras? They're all terrible in comparison.

DarkLaw I activated Chandra Pyromancer's (which is what they SHOULD have called her) ultimate one night at FNM, not long after I had playing.

I didn't hit anything worthwhile, even though I had Lava Axe in the deck, and I've never used her competitively since.

I do have her in a Casual deck that I muck around with at home. She's a lot of fun if you find the right shell for her.

You built a deck around her, but that doesn't mean she's the BEST Chandra.

You don't need to build around some of the other Chandras because they work in lots of decks.
