Hey, I was just think about one of my favorite cards (Tree of Redemption) And thought WAIT! This guy can combo. Have him and then an Umbral Mantle equipped to him. Also have Training Grounds, and preferably less than 13 life.
Tap Tree of Redemption, making you up to thirteen life. Then untap with Umbral Mantle, which only costs due to Training Grounds, tap Tree again, gaining two life, repeat the cycle five-to-six times per turn, for each mana you have your buffing this guy and gaining life. Your opponent can't keep up.
Now, here's were I need suggestions.
What cards should I run?
My thoughts were:
Prophet of Kruphix because now we can do this during our opponents turn.
Sunbond because gatherer says we "gain or loose enough life" so thats two counters on a non-defender creature as well.
Burning Anger so we can tap Tree for tons of damage, then untap and repeat.
Stoneforge Mystic to tutor Umbral Mantle. And to load Sunbond onto.
What should stay and what should leave? Tell me what you think.

I think he's just referring to casual play, but I could be wrong.

I was thinking Modern so I guess I couldn't run Stoneforge Mystic, but I could do Stonehewer Giant which could work well too just more so in the late game.

You'll need to run some ramp. Cards like Birds of Paradise and Noble Hierarch fit perfectly for this.
Rhox Faithmender would let you increase your life very quickly. It would also block Siege Rhino, which seems to be very relevant in the current meta.
Twisted Image could be a hilarious way to win.
Also some fog effects could maybe help you survive the early turns.

Thank you so much lemmingllama. Do you think I should keep red on the main board?

You could, it really just depends on how you want the game to go. You would need to run some City of Brass and Mana Confluence to meet your mana requirements, it could hurt a lot. Maybe run Courser of Kruphix to offset lifeloss?

You may want to be clear about what format you want this to be in. This looked like a cool Modern deck, but Stoneforge Mystic is 100% banned in Modern. After we know what you want, it might be easier to do.
