4-0 Kaladesh Release day. No game lost. —Sept. 30, 2016

Great start.

The Matches

  • 2-0 against UR Fevered Visions. A good friend. Game one was rather straight forward when I landed a Stitcher's Graft and Always Watching. Game two was a grind fest with a ton of Draw, Discard with the land on his side and my Smuggler's Copter. Fragmenting got rid of a Fever Visions early.

  • 2-0 against BR vampires. Easy win both games.

  • 2-0 against Naya good stuff. He failed to get his Radiant Flames and I easily out raced him, thanks to Stitcher's Graft again

  • 2-0 against UW control. He was running anti-aggro but had unlucky draws. Once again, my artifacts ruled game one. Game two, I had two Negates, one Spell Queller, one Gideon, Ally of Zendikar and three lands, while he was mana screwed. He tapped out to kill a Bygone Bishop, allowing me to land Gideon uncontested. With protection from his spells, the clock was fast.

Lessons

The new artifacts were fantastic. I might consider a second Stitcher's Graft.

I got to play a deck quite like this last night. It plays really well for sure. Always Watching really is a game winner.

I'm also thinking about 2x Topplegeist and 2x Smuggler's Copter to smooth down the mana curve, probably in exchange to a Reflector Mage or two, a Declaration in Stone and a Nebelgast Herald.

Topplegeist aren't really worth it, their useless played turn 1 and are really only good with a Rattlechains. Smuggler's Copter is good though, also thought about running Fleetwheel Cruiser for the surprise damage and to be 4 drop in the deck.

Yes, Topplegeist is not great, but I wanted to lower the curve (too much 3 drops), and it works just fine with Always Watching and Smuggler's Copter. I will test it, even if I'm not sure about it.

Topplegeist isn't great, but paired with the rest of the deck makes for interesting blow-outs especially with Nebelgast Herald + Rattlechainsand any ETB affects. I do like it with the smuggler but not sure with the equipment.

Insidious Will I believe would make a good replacement to ojutai, just in the fact that it still basically does the same thing minus the returning of creatures.
It is however able to keep all you dudes in play against sweepers and blanket burn and even certain creatures (I.E. GearHulks)

Would you consider running 4 neblegast heralds, and 2 reflector mages? Thoughts?

Yes, in this deck, Nebelgast Herald is generally better.

Won a match against a modern infect deck with Nebelgast Herald and Spell Queller lol. Tapped out the infect attackers and countered the buff spells.

So elder-fiend didn't work for the deck?

It worked sometimes, it didn't work other times. It was fun when I sided it in, the following week I maindecked it and it just sat in my hand all FNM. There's simply not a lot you want to sac for it (unless one of your creatures is the target of a removal spell). I prefer to run Archangel Avacyn  Flip.
