Deck

TURN:1

  • Llanowar Elves: Needs no introduction. We want to hit three mana as soon as possible, and this is how we get there. Regardless of if we're on the play or draw, and what we're up against in Games 2 and 3, these should stay.

TURN:2

  • Bloom Tender: The main idea is to drop Bloom Tender T2 so I can drop two three-drops on T3. This idea is a main pillar of the deck. These should likely stay in Games 2 and 3 since they will worst-case eat removal in favor of the three-drops.
  • Charming Prince: Solid on all fronts - the life helps with aggro, the scry smoothens out the first few turns, and the blink can do wonders late-game. Also a solid card to stay in Games 2-3.

TURN:3

  • Severance Priest: The best three-drop. The token can be annoying however, but Emptiness should be able to manage it. Shouldn't be swapped out between games.
  • Skirmish Rhino: Solid body but doesn't do too much. More of a juggernaut to be reanimated. If not for the Bloom Tender strategy, I would probably cut them.
  • Formidable Speaker: The untap works well with Bloom Tender, but the search is what makes this card a card. Discard a land or a three-drop, and grab Eirdu, Ouroboroid, Figure of Fable or in worst case Emptiness to bring back the three-drop.
  • Qarsi Revenant: Admittedly difficult to fit in the Bloom Tender combo on T3, but makes up for it by stalling any aggressors while opening the air path for stabilizing or being the aggressor yourself. Fun to surprise untap with Formidable Speaker.

TURN:LATER

  • Ouroboroid: A one-off to top off the mid-game interaction plan. When it enters, the opponent should max 1-2 cards in hand for maximum effective panic. First default target for Formidable Speaker.
  • Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn: Arguably overkill, but the flipside basically invalidates the opponent targeting anything other than itself. So pretty much a Ouroboroid - which persist works quite well with (unless for persisting Ouroboroid itself, but it can be reset with a Charming Prince!).
  • Emptiness: Can clear some bodies early if needed, or be a solid blocker, reanimate some fallen comrades, and clear a creature. Spiritual big brother to Charming Prince.
  • Kin-Tree Severance: If insurance was a Magic card. It's a solid backbone.

Sideboard

  • Formidable Speaker: One extra copy for Games 2-3 when I know more what to look for.
  • Duress:
  • Intimidation Tactics:
  • Figure of Fable: To be added in grindier match-ups when there is room to reach the final ability and I need to crack board stalls.
  • Scavenging Ooze: Graveyards beware.
  • Surrak, Elusive Hunter: For decks who think removing creatures is the must fun thing there is to do. Spoiler alert: it won't be.
  • Clarion Conqueror: An obvious answer to planeswalkers, but note that it also locks down creatures and artifacts!
  • Morningtide's Light: For board stall match-ups. Will likely rarely be cast on my own stuff.
  • Adept Watershaper: A really solid T4 drop for opponents who aren't running exile-based removal pieces. Combat becomes quite fun, and they Severance Priest from mildly annoying to the literal plague.

Maybeboard

  • Rhys, the Evermore: I don't know if I will be willing to keep up two mana when I should, but even if I don't, I could just reanimate the destroyed creature with Emptiness down the road anyway?
  • Twilight Diviner: I know it's tempting, but I think the ceiling might be too low for this to be worth a spot - mediocre body, trap of surveiling your best cards into graveyard exile effects, and Emptiness for a second Skirmish Rhino just seems... meh. There must be better cards to play.
  • Ouroboroid: As a one-off in main? Anti-synergy with the rest of the deck, but the effect might just be worth it.
  • Yathan Roadwatcher: Not 100% on these. The reanimation is good, especially with Twilight Diviner, but it's just a vanilla 3/3 which can't be Priest'd.
