Could someone please explain to me how cards like Pith Driller make infinite combo's with mikaeus and a sac outlet.
March 16, 2015 7:25 p.m.
Clipster: Pith Driller puts the -1/-1 counter on itself, and since +1/+1 counters and -1/-1 counters nullify each other, he is left without any counters and can trigger undying again.

Ok thank you, I was just wondering if the counters cancelled out which it seems they do. Awesome deck btw +1

How do you feel about Curse of Death's Hold? It shuts down aggro and tokens...

What cards would you remove from the original deck for Necropotence, Contamination, Blood Artist, Liliana of the Dark Realms, Life's Finale, and Engineered Plague? Also, would you add Falkenrath Noble in addition to Blood Artist?

Great deck, however just so you know while yeah the +1/+1 and -1/-1 counters will cancel each other on your creatures, for the undying check it does still have a +1/+1 counter on it so undying will not trigger.
From the rulings on Undying: Undying relies on the last known information about the permanent just before it was put into a graveyard. If that permanent had a +1/+1 counter on it, then receives enough -1/-1 counters for it to be put into a graveyard due to having 0 toughness or lethal damage marked on it, it won't return to the battlefield despite the state-based action of +1/+1 counters and -1/-1 counters "cancelling each other out". As the permanent last existed on the battlefield, it had a +1/+1 counter on it, so undying will not trigger.

I'm surprised to not see some of the more basic tutors here. Such as Diabolic Tutor, Diabolic Revelation, or even Diabolic Intent because of it's sac outlet.

Legendary_Jack: 121.3. If a permanent has both a +1/+1 counter and a -1/-1 counter on it, N +1/+1 and N -1/-1 countersare removed from it as a state-based action, where N is the smaller of the number of +1/+1 and -1/-1counters on it.
So it does work since the +1/+1 counters are removed from the creature as a state based action before undying has a chance to trigger.

fenriskiba Yeah I knew about that, I just checked with a judge I know and we're both right, but I was mistaken in that if the -1/-1 counters cause the death of something with Undying and a +1/+1 counter on it in the same instance as they're applied (e.g. Black Sun's Zenith) then it will not return because all state based actions are checked at once and it will still have a +1/+1 counter on it at that point, so yeah sorry my bad.

DaitokujiAmnael: Diabolic Tutor is in the deck! The other two I don't run due to mana cost (Diabolic Revelation) and pricing (Diabolic Intent at $7).
Most "generic" tutors are really expensive!

@Sleazebag I would definitely try Retribution of the Ancients. It costs only one mana to remove all your undying counters. Even if you don't have that much mana you always can use one or 2 mana to get a few sac + come into play abilities. This card rocks with undying!

Sorry about my last comment guys! The format went weird. Would someone please advise me on those cards?

Buwalda: I'm currently working on a new deck with some improvements and suggestions, it's a WIP and I've been busy lately (and now it's vacation) but it will come around soon.
On another note, lots of people have asked the same questions, I recommend you look through the comment history (All the "reset discussion updates") and look for others who got advice!

Thanks man! If i posted a decklist with my own changes, could you look at it and see if it would be good? I'm very new to EDH and i would love some assistance!

Any thoughts on running Viscera Seer as an alternate sac outlet (with scry as an added bonus)?
April 8, 2015 3:13 p.m.
canterlotguardian: I do run Viscera Seer in my Not So Budget list. I used to run it in this one and it is definitely a strong card.
The reason I took it out was that I didn't have enough draw to make proper use of it. You want to be able to scry the card you need to the top, draw it and cast it in the same turn. Too often I ended up getting Viscera Seer in play, setting up my next turn to instantwin then getting my boardstate dealt with, so I felt it would be better to replace it with a creature that could beat someone to death.
As I said above though, with more draw it is absolutely amazing and a must play, so when the rest of the deck is stronger so does it become. Worth adding if you improve the decklist.

Wouldn't Jet Medallion be better than Charcoal Diamond and Jeweled Amulet?
It doesn't produce black mana but the cost-reduction is pretty useful especially if you can cast multiple black spells on the same turn.

Can't wait to see it
